Just went to Staples...they had 1 left!!! I talked to the manager about the rebate thing, she said no problem, bring it back in Sunday, they'd return and resell it so I could get the rebate. It also printed the $100 rebate. Incredible deal!!!

Forgot to mention-I also used the $50 off coupon, so got a sweet deal!

Got lucky and got one today also. I hope there isn't any problem with the return/repurchase on Sunday. Has anyone got any experience doing that kind of thing? Also, will they still honor the coupon used in the orginal purchase without having to print out another?

Got lucky and bought one from the Jantzen Beach store in Portland, OR. I called and had them hold it for me. It was open box...so I had them reseal it with some return notice tape. Gonna go back on Sunday for the $150 rebate. Thanks for the tip!!

O yeah, way to many deals for the past 2 weeks. I guess its the year end kind of thing. I remember last year's hot deals were also towards the end of the year. All retailers, manufacturers are worried about having to keep all the stuff through the end of the year, worst still with the impending Iraq war, consumers are going to tighten their spendings. Hence a major spending now by consumer before US go to war with Iraq would provide some dineros for the soldiers to throw at Iraqis.

Got the last one from the Fond du Lac location this morning. Thanks a ton MedicBob !!!!!!!!!!!

Used the $50 coupon and it worked just fine. Talked to the guy checking me out about the $150 rebate tomorrow he said no problem
bring back your reciept tomorrow and they will fix it. He is working Sunday morning so he will be there to do it.

My total after tax today was $765.98 so after the $250 rebates my total cost with tax will be $515.98 !! Awesome

They charged tax on the $50 coupon but with this deal I wasnt making a stink about $2.50 worth of tax.

Best part of the deal is I have no patience and now I have the comp in hand and no waiting for delivery.

man, this sucks, the staples stores around me don't carry laptops, they said that you have to order online , but the problem is that the online ones dont have the clearence, i live in the bay area, marin county.

Can't you use the HP rebate that they have on their website that says "save up to $725.00" . It is a rebate that allows you to get $200 back if you get any HP notebook? I have it in front of me and it looks like you can. Now if my calculations are correct you will buy it for $779.40 or whatever, get the $200 HP rebate which gets it down to $579.40, then the Staples rebate tomorrow for $150 which brings it down to $429.40!! Then you buy the external floppy from HP for $49.99 and you get the $50 mail in rebate from them. Can anyone confirm that this sounds right? I was a little confused about the rebate that they have on their site about the "save up to $725" but I have read it three times. It states that you can buy a whole HP Pavillion PC with monitor and printer or it offers you to buy a laptop! Let me know. I am in NY and have one on hold for me right now and plan on picking it up tonight.

Correction to my last entry. I called HP and it is only if you buy the HP monitor and desktop. You are able to get the bundle rebates if you purchase a laptop with other peripherals. Sorry to get everyones hopes up. Where can I find the $100 MIR though? I looked on the HP site and couldn't find it.

Just tried all the stores in Pgh area. No Luck. One of the guys I spoke to really searched the computers for this one for me. Did say that no stores show it in inventory. Also said that only 4 show as being sold in the past day. He claims that on items that show up like this on their system that usually what has happened is someone bought it online and returned it to store and managers subsequently place them on clearance. Oh well, was excited the for a momonet.

Now I am so glad I missed out on that first HP deal and that I skipped the Compaq one also.

I tell you I felt weird standing outside of Staples waiting for them to open the doors this morning. I was kicking myself
for not checking this thread last night. Thank God I was the only one there today going for this laptop because I got the
last one.

Now I just have to race like hell home after I get the reciept adjustment tomorrow morning. I want to go back when
the guy who checked me out today is working and I dont want to miss the start of the Packer game either.

Now its off to the HP site to order my free after rebate floppy drive.
