Just did this in Portland (return/rebuy) and am now typing on my new laptop!! It was an open box when I bought it, but everything seems alright after I popped in the system recovery disc to get it back to original settings. Thanks again for the help.

Scored one! I drove an hour to, and an hour back to a store 2 cities away, and they didnt even have it! Although I aranged with the manager before going for a "save the sale" and they are going to ship one from another staples in another state to me. So I have a bunch of reciepts and rebate slips, but no laptop. This will be my first laptop ever, I dont even need one, although I'm going to sell my Toshiba E310 Pocket Pc and consider this an upgrade (although I cant haul the laptop around with me, I can use it in between class with my more use).

even at $500 its still a lot of money, but if later down the road I feel that I'm not getting my money out of it I'll just sell it for close to (or about) what I paid for it after rebates.

going to go buy the floppy drive now.

Good news just got back from Staples and the return/rebuy went off without a hitch.

Sweeeeeeeeet!!! Alright Californians, don't give up hope! I found a store in the Bay Area that had one left and it was on clearance for $779.50 with the $100 and $150 mail-in rebates printed out at the register. Thank you Anandtech, and I only found out about this deal a couple hours ago. The guy I spoke to said the Pittsburg store had a display model left, so someone who's interested might want to check that out. Also, I notice that the SKU/item number is not correct on their website. The correct item number is 492780.

One thing, I didn't realize that this didn't come with a floppy drive - that's kinda weak. The USB floppy drive a couple people have mentioned off of HPShopping seems awesome, but the rebate doesn't seem to apply to the ZE1210. It only mentions a couple other laptop models. Anyone confirm that it will definitely work on the ZE1210?

Lastly, I haven't opened mine yet because I'm still deciding whether I want to keep it or sell it. For those that are using it already, how do you like it?

My girlfriend is on her second one already do to the fact that the first one would'nt reboot and the sound was crackely. Second one would'nt reboot either until she DL'd a Win update. I'm surprized I don't see a lot of this issue mentioned here.

It's ok...not outstanding. The screen is big but only does 1024x768, so that's kind of a bummer. But, I bought it only for somethign to run Linux on, so I'm not too worried about it.

I got one for $779 - 50 -100 - 150 = $479 plus tax. It was such a great deal that I sprung for the 3 year warranty for an extra $129.

I ordered the free after rebate floppy from HP and I am one happy camper with this deal.

Ref my request above, I had 3 AT'ers email me a scanned copy of their receipt...thanks so much! I took the receipt to Staples today and scored the last ze1210 in the store. Now I need to decide what to do with the ze4101 I'll be getting in a few weeks!!

I'm in the Detroit area and the laptops are not in the store, they have to be ordered. I went in Saturday and tried to get a price match. The store only PM's within a 50 mile radius. Anyways the clerk said he'd see what he could do.
The web price was $1349. Last week there was a $300 coupon on laptops over $1199...so he applies that.....he comes up with another coupon for $250...where or for what I don't know....I use the $50 off $500....anyways with tax it rings up to $793 and change.
I went today and did the return/rebuy to get the receipt dated after the 13th for the $150 Staples rebate...no problem.
So with the HP rebate, I'm looking at $543...down from the $1349. Thanks evergreen!!!

The manager at my local Staples was nice enough to hold the laptop for me until Sunday that way she wouldn't have to do teh return, rebuy deal. It was an open box item but everything works GREAT!! I saw in an earlier post that someone upgraded their warranty for 3 years for $129, did anyone else do this? When they talked to me about it it was like $329 for the extended warranty. I was like, well I am only paying $479 after rebates for the computer, do I want to double the price for a warranty, I don't think so. The guy ringing me out also did notice that the HP rebate that prints out is not for the ZE1210 but he told me to send it in anyways. He suggested that I send in the original to HP themselves since Staples can always look up on the computer to make sure that you did indeed buy it and did not return it. I am going to check with the CSR just to make sure. Now I just need to try and understand how to get this thing into wireless web. Don't know anything about that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
