dirtysphincter said;
just bought 4 of them in northern va md washington dc area , thanks for the post

Let me add that bragging about cleaning out an area really annoys other people who could not find any, and prevents future deals from being posted.

I called Webster and asked them to add YMMV to the definition of Community.

I could have *maybe* turned $50-75 on my machine, but instead I chose to make someone's day and maybe a friend or two along the way. I wouldnt have even known about this deal if it wasnt for you guys, so where would I get off trying to turn a buck on anyone here?

If I found 5 at my store, I would have gotten what I *needed* and reported the quantity left at that store. But hey, thats just me. If I dont give back here, I cant really expect much in return.

My brother grabbed one of these and he is already having problems with it. He turned it on after using it for about 2 weeks and it won't boot at all......

The problem is, his receipt says NO Returns. That's too bad for him!

Anyone willing to sell ONE of these for shipping and a small profit? I'm working on getting an Aspiring Game Developers club going at the college I attend, and this would make a great server to test our upcoming online RPG project based on the NeverWinter Nights engine.

thanks!

Well how about you get off you behind and start actually doign something... i drove to novi from AA on monday after my classes. First come first served...welcome to the real life.

somehow i dont see how me buying 5 of em prevents any future deals, if it wasnt me, someone would have cleared out. On my occasions i called a store just to find out that some other guy just bought out their stock. I didnt cry and bitched about it for 2 days straight. The guy beat me to it, he was faster and good for him. Plus no one is guaranteed to find one in the first place, if you got to the store before you'd beat me, This jsut wasnt the case so oh well.

Thansk for the ebay advertising though...anyone interesting in the turbo?

Oh yeah just an opinion, the machines arent really made to be servers, its got only 125k cache and 64 megs. It wont replace your Sun Enterprises/Fires or dell poweredges. It makes neat little multipurpose machines

As usual,

I hope everyone gets one. You will never know how kind people in anandtech are.

But one thing I know for sure is that, if you get it in store by yourself, you can always ask the manager to do a price adjustment and help you get one at 99 with a Replacement plan. I got mine that way, so in two weeks time if the thing dies,(due to my torture or what ever reason) I can get some thing brand new. Yipee

Good luck to yall,

And remember to join the yahoo group.

Get this!

I stopped by CompUSA during lunch today, just to browse, and found an unopened GW500 sitting on the clearance table at the front of the store! It scanned at $99.88, but then the cashier told me their Sales Manager had "packaged" it with a $100 friggin warranty, and that the cost would be $199.88. I told her and the manager that I didn't want or need the warranty, and they said "too bad" and refused to sell it without the "warranty". What a load of B.S.!!!!

I just sent a nasty email to CompUSA corporate, although I doubt it will do any good.

No big deal really, since tpware is still selling me his unit (thanks!!) but the whole idea of forcing you to buy the "warranty" just bugs the heck out of me....

Just thought I'd share....

Look halik -

One of the main reasons people are pissed off at you for buying 5 and selling them on ebay is that you're coming to the very forum that provided you with the deal and BOASTING about how you cleaned out the store. If you want to use these deals to make a profit, go for it, but you ARE going to get flamed if you come back here and BRAG about it. You are deliberately rubbing it in the faces of people who wanted one for themselves, and that's just plain rude... bottom line.

Buy it, then promptly return the extended warranty
FYI-no one seemed to know the chipset on the newer, 900 mhz ones. The newer 900mhz ones seem to be a VIA chipset. Personally, I'm keeping an older 633 with the 810 chipset.

Can you return the Extended Warranty?? I had no idea! If this is confirmed, then I'll definitely stop back by this afternoon and get that bad boy!

Kev

EDIT: I called Corporate and they said that Clearance items are often packaged with Extended Service Plans, and since these are a "package deal" you CANNOT return the Extended Warranty (she could have been lying to me, but it's not worth buying it and taking the chance, so I'll just stick with the one that tpware is selling me...)

Thanks!

Bidding on an auction with no intent to pay is not only immoral it's criminal. Simply because you think you're justified or can't be caught or prosecuted is no reason to do it.

Now that fleabay is getting flooded with GW500s hopefully the price will steadily drop until it hits $100 or so.... Then everyone who missed the deal can just buy one on fleabay for the same price!

Don't want to brag or anything, but i did manage to get a box last friday.

Actually, i had no clue what i was buying because my friend told me to go the front desk of CompUSA and ask them for this box. I did so without question. I had no clue what i was buying until i found this forum.

Apparently, he called CompUSA in Santa Barbara, CA and asked if they had any in stock. They did, only 1 though. I had no clue i was walking out with a GEMSTONE until i found this posting.

Well, Sean if you are reading this, if you aren't gonna pick this email server up, then i guess i'll have to sell it on FleaBay. Hahahahahha..

So if you want it, hurry up and pick it up bro. I can taste that yummy yummy food already you promised me.

Or, i might just use it? hehe

somehow i dont see how me buying 5 of em prevents any future deals

If it comes down to everyone ebaying stuff, why would you post here knowing that the value of the stuff you are ebaying will be deflated by other ebayers buying the from the deal you posted ? Sometimes it is about sharing the deal because you feel a sense of community.
