I've been on hold for a couple minutes while they check availability at the last CompUSA I'll drive to -- a 45 minute drive ONE WAY -- and they say they have one but they're checking so maybe I'll get lucky.

This deal is HOT!!

I think there's enough interest in this $99 email server to warrant it's own forums which I am willing to donate.

Also I have one of these for sale, brand new and will sell for $100 with free shipping (which I will pay for) but there's a big catch which I will explain later after my forums have been setup and are running.

First I need someone who is experienced at web design/forums to please contact me ASAP:
1) If I wanted forums.gottadeal.com which of these two would I choose?

Subdomains (Subdomains are a way of creating separate accounts within your account, which are
access as separate URLs. For example, you could setup a "forums" subdomain on
your account "gottadeal.com" which would be access as "forums.gottadeal.com".)
-or-
Addon Domains (An addon domain allows you to create additional domains and point them to
subdirectories. With this feature you're allowed to manage all your domains within
one FTP account.)

2) I doubt it's difficult but just in case I will need help creating the subdomain forums.gottadeal.com

3) I need a simple but decent looking homepage for GottaDeal.com

4) I will need help installing InvisionBoard forum software

In return for your help with the above I will offer 6 months of FREE WEB HOSTING with the following features:

Site Features:
Disk space : 500 MB

Why didnt you just leave it at the store for us fellow Anandtechers if you were just going to jack up the price and resell it???? At least Ebay it instead of trying to mock us by asking us to overpay for it when we know you are making a kiling off it.

Not really, I'm gonna keep one, and sell the two to recover the cost for my first one.

If i sell the other two I'll be making $50 each which will be $100 in total.
If you subtract my 2hr driving, gas money and packaging labor I am not asking for much.

So don't be bitter because you didn't get on in this deal.
Don't be bitter, admit you missed out and better luck next time.

Oh and besides, when I called the employee picked up, said they didn't have any in stock. Later on when I called (i thought i was calling the monrovia, but I guess i called the same store) the manager answered and verified that there were 3 in stock. So if I didn't pick it up, the employees would've picked up the rest @ $80 each.

I did my work and I deserve it.
So KRAEJI... You owe me an apology... For talking so soon.

Besides one of the ones are 900mhz (i'm pretty sure)

I finally got this unit up and running in place of my Siemens router. Seems to run much smoother. Hope to use it eventually as an e-mail server so I can access my e-mail from any of my machines. Never did want to set-up yet another M$ product (exchange server).

You could have just posted where it was still available and let someone else pick it up instead of the employees getting it You are trying to get reimbursed for the time you spent getting a hotdeal...so you think you deserve to make a huge profit? Of course you can do what you want.. its a free country but That's not cool.. People like you make me hesitate posting a hot deal b/c you'll clear out all the stores and try to sell everything for profit..

Got the last one at my local CompUSA. The guy on the phone was really nice, it took him like 5 min. to find it in the store and when he finally got back to me, he said he'll put it on hold for me.

Good stuff!

Me too. I was gone all this morning. If I hadn't gone anywhere I would have seen this.

Of course, that doesn't mean any CompUSAs in my area would have any in stock anyway.

Hey I lost my old login info, I was soul786 on this board but anyways...

I'm posting this here cause I got in on this deal in Northern California and I figured I'd fill in a couple of you guys who seem to think California has none left. I called yesterday at the San Jose store and they had 6 of these left in stock. I asked them to put one on hold which I picked up today. I don't know if they still have 5 left or not, but I assume so. Those of you that live around here go out and get in on the deal or whatever, if you don't and you really want one of these bad enough to trade a console system (i'd prefer ps2 or xbox) then I can drive all the way out there again and ship it to you, provided you pay for the shipping. I dont understand why the guy up there got flamed for saying he wanted to trade for one of these but whatever. I'm not trying to make a profit by buying them up and then offering them for sale, but I am interested in getting a console system so if any of you want to make a deal then cool. Please don't get mad at me for putting that out there.

Please read this:

I got this machine not to use it as an email server but rather to run a really small application called Microsoft GameVoice Server on it. There is no linux version of MSGV server (heh) so I need to sorta work around what I have here. If anyone here can pm me or give me help or advice about installing windows on the HD and maybe still retaining some functionality of the LCD, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I read somewhere in this thread that the LCD was serial, does that mean that I can just use LCDC or some similar program to control it like I do with my Matrix Orbital LCD display? Can the button controllers be salvaged still?

Thanks in advance for any of your help and good luck to the ppl in the bay area trying to get those last few machines.

Ahhh this just gets worse:

Paramus, North Paramus, Parsipanny & Mount Laurel all OOS (although Paramus's computer says they have 2 - theyve had multiple people coming in looking for them and theyre just not there) .

Rossman,
Invision Board is really simple to setup. Just download the archive, extract and upload the files to your web directory. Then change the config file to your preferences. If you need help PM or AIM (cd650). I just installed Invision board for one of my sites, and in my opinion it's the best forum software out there. Really slick.

Picked up the last two of these at a Dallas,TX store. My bro is using one now with Windows XP on it and im messing around with linux on the other. Getting windows XP or any OS on it is easy. You'll need an extra power supply because the power supply it comes with only has 1 connector. So only the hard drive gets powered. Find another PSU and hook it up and use the extra connects, get a standard IDE cable and hook up a cd-rom to slave, tell it to boot to cd-rom with your OS in the cd-rom ....and your done. Very easy to setup.

Great deal by the way. Thanks.
