Wow! That is definately a hot deal. Is it possible to get too big of an antenna?

The VU-210 is specifically designed to provide optimum reception of stations that are very far away. Because of its large size, you must use special care when installing the antenna.

If you also use the VU-210 to receive nearby stations, the strong signal from the antenna might overload your TV or FM receiver. In such cases, you can use a variable attenuator to adjust the signal strength.

Maybe, if you live less then 10 miles from your closest tv channel, you may get some overload, but it is rare, there are attenuators to reduce signal if that occurs( less then 10$) for the attenuator. I realy never heard of it happening without the use of a preamp on an antenna, those cause problems of overload many times.

It's a monster alright. I only have the front half in my living room and it's HUGE. Sadly, it doesn't work better than my little double RS bowtie for getting the local UHF HDTV stations. There are getting hard to find. They've been on clearance for a while, as originally reported in avsforum.

Tried finding this at the 4 local RatShacks... the managers all said pretty much the same thing "good luck!" Definitely call before driving around looking for this deal, it's been around for awhile. Really wish I could have gotten one!

Ask them to look on thier computer to see if any local shacks have it in stock, the first one I went to did for me and called them to verify, that's how I found one for me (and one for a friend).

Here's a picture of it to get a feel for the size. Just for reference, that's a 36" TV and the room is 20x14 feet. Sadly it doesn't work any better than my little RS double bowtie for HDTV, at least indoors. My problem is that I'm not that far away from the transmitters, a couple of miles, but there's this damn hill in the way.

Be really careful when you are pulling out the booms. I was trying to be careful and still ended up breaking off about half of the plastic snaps. They are really brittle.

If anyone wants one in SF, there should still be one left at the Mission Blvd store in Daly City.

How big is the box that this antenna came in?
You must need a pickup truck to transport this right?

It all folds up and comes in two halfs. So the box is maybe 10 foot long and about 7 inches wide and high. I brought it home sticking out of the window in my WRX.

I have cable, but you can't get HDTV on it. At least here in SF. I need my HDTV!!!!

You can fit it in your sedan. That's what I did. It just sticks a few feet out the window.

It has a 210-mile range over flat land w/o obstructions. Great antenna IF you can find one.

I called all four of my local RatShacks and they all said,"nope, it's been on clearance for a long time, we've cleared 'em out. Now we DO have one for $99.99 ..."

I wanted to use it as an external antenna for my police scanner.

These are still out there. I found 5 in central VA yesterday. 2 were open box, but I got a new one from a RS 4 hours away, put it on my RS card and they shipped it free.
