Help!!

Here's the situation.. I have the HP SCSI Drive like everyone else on this msg listing.. I just tried running the patch. Everything appeared to work fine.. I am running Win98 first edition. I just simply double clicked on the exe to run the prog. It opened the DOS prompt window, said it was searching for the drive, found the drive, and ran the patch. Everything looked like it ran smoothly.. then i rebooted. While rebooting, I also went into the SCSI tools to see if it would detect the Plextor drive - but it didn't. I have the Adaptec 1520B controller. I know this is an oldass SCSI card, but I was able to run Audiograbber and Adaptec's EZ CD Creator fine when doing some CD to CD burns.. anyhow, once I got to Windows, it doesn't list it as a drive in the control panel or under my computer. I tried running the patch again. The message I get is : No drive found to change.

Can anyone provide any help?? Thanks in advance!!

and while you all are at it, maybe you can help me too!!!
I am running 2kpro, ran a Win98 boot disk with the proggy on it. If I opt to start the computer with cd rom support, it hangs after doing the pci check/ cursor just sits there. If I try command prompt only, I get a " this program requires ASPI, no drives found to change".
This is a scsi Plextor, by the way. Any ideas???

Ya you need to update your aspi layers... Just like when you are updating the bios of the burner. Read here and see how they did it for the burner...

hmmm.......just ran the ASPICHK prog, and was told I have the latest( 4.6) files already.
Am I just missing the boat here? I use the Windows 98 boot disc to get to an A prompt, run a:\hp2ple~1.exe( also saved on the win 98 disc), and restart, right??? I still get the same problem. Does running 2k pro make a difference???

maybe your aspi files are located in a diff dir or they are unuseable by a "win98" boot disk. Do you have a friends cpu or somewhere you can take it and hook it up just to flash it?

ok- here's an idea- I have my old win 98 system on my old spare hard drive; I will hook that baby up, and try that now and repost

same exact thing. I did notice that on post, while still in DOS, it was loading 3 different aspi drivers, and saw a "Aspi successfully loaded " message. ( 2k system displayed this as well).

well then just run the latest aspi updated its dated from 99 and says win95 only but back up the files it overwrites then flash it then put the files back

aaarrrggghhhhh!!! I have tried everything, and still can't get this puppy to flash. I just added a new Plextor 12/10/32 burner, and would really like this to work, so the Plextor software would recognize the drive. I was gonna try this on one of my friends' systems, but I am the only one running scsi!!!
