This is my first deal post so be easy.

I saw the deal on ableshoppers and I've grabbed one from photoalley. basically you need a amex blue card, and open an account at msn passport. Photoalley has this Nikon 995 for $799. buy it and price match with regency use your blue card so you can get $250 back from amex. you must check out with MSN passport wallet (you should see the sign at photoalley's shopping cart, 'cause MSN is having a holiday rebate program where you can get up to $100 rebate for $500 purchase. Also photoalley should give you $100 gift check with the purchase, so you can use that $100 to buy some accessory. the final count is as following:
$799 - $100 msn rebate - $250 blue pm - $100 nikon rebate = $$349, plus $100 photoalley gc you can buy something else. what a happy ending with my long time waiting on this dream camera.

Hi, guys, is this deal dead or not? I watched threads about this nikon 995 for several days but didn't buy it yet. Today I finally decide to go for it. But when I checked the royal camera website, the webpage became like this: regular price 899.99, sale price 509.99. For God's sake, I think just yesterday there's no the regular price bullshit! I called Amex once for something else, and they said only the list price could be price matched. So...... I just hate myself to be so slow on this deal!

Yes, the deal is dead. Never was alive really - the 2 products involved are not the same (Regency doesn't sell complete retail packaged items for the quoted prices - they sell stripped-down cameras - camera, lens, with nothing else, usually. Every single normally-included accessory is sold separately and is in addition to the quoted price). One thing you said did catch my eye:

>>>I called Amex once for something else, and they said only the list price could be price matched.<<<

Either someone there was very misinformed, or they didn't tell you exactly what you think they told you...LIST price is the manufacturer's retail price - IF they would only match a LIST price, there wouldn't be ANY point to the price guarantee at all. I wasn't privvy to the conversation, but they may have meant LISTED price, which is a very different thing. Best thing is to double-check with another rep, but there's no way that AMEX only matches the LIST price.

I did this deal with the Canon G2 for someone and we expect to get teh pricematch between the $899 for photoalley and $628 on the web, subject to the $250/max per claim

whoever told you that at amex had it all wrong or you misunderstood.

Also the deal was nov 20/21 only. Now they are offering instant cash off but the gift check was better bc it didn't reduce the amex pricematch amount.

After reading you guys' posts, I think I was told by AMEX that they would price match with the LISTED price but not SALE price or DISCOUNTED price. OK then with AMEX.

But the problem is here, go to the regency camera
Now they have the regular price for 899.99 and the Sale price for 509.99
As I remember there was no regular price before. If I was wrong please correct me. I doubt thet AMEX complained to regency camera and then forced them to update their webpage. Just my 2 cents.

But anyway I can wait for a new model. Maybe next year.

Ok, it was time to "go to the mattresses" I cancelled my photoally nikon 995 order. Went to ritzcamera.com checked out thru passport. Called and it is in stock and will ship today.
799.99-$100 (passport)-$100(rebate)-$250(pricematch amex)-$30.99(pricematch guarrentee with ritz at Dell.com) = $319.00 no 100 gift to photoally but we got to get the deal under our belts before we can think of Accessories. BTW the Dell pricematch is right off of the list that Ritzcamera.com gives you that they will price match with.

2 comments:

1) has anyone who ordered thru Photoalley received their $100 giftcertificte? I thought they were supposed to be sent by last night.

2) It's my understanding that AMEX will not pricematch a store that has a price match policy. so jsfiat you might want to ask AMEX and look into that while you still have a chance to return that camera to ritz.

of course they match the sale price. if they didn't what would be the point of calling it best value guarantee? it is their policy to match the lowest advertised price, sale or otherwise.

<< Store advertisements which reference a discount on all items does not qualify. For example: An advertisement stating "All store merchandise is 40% off" is not eligible for coverage on a per item basis. Rebate offers are not eligible. This program does not apply to any advertisements dated before your purchase or more than 60 days after your purchase. >>

only if the entire store is on sale does it not count....

The Ritz Camera deal is even better if you live in one of the states where Photoalley charges sales tax like California with our outrageous 8% tax rate.

CUS "I have questions about your pricing to CA and the low price guarantee."
CSR "Hello Jim, welcome to Ritzcamera.com. I have got your message and will be glad to assist you."
CSR "Go ahead with your question, I will be glad to answer them."
CUS "I live in California. Does your policy mean that you'll give me a 8% credit to make it no net tax?"
CUS "sales tax that is."
CSR "That is correct."
CUS "Great!"
CSR "The sales tax will be adjusted with the price."
CUS "Also, Dell.com has the Nikon 995 for $769.00. Does your low price guarantee mean that I'll bet a $30.99 refund?"
CSR "Are you interested in making an online purchase?"
CUS "Probably, but I'll need to cancel my Photoalley order first."
CSR "Our Low Price Guarantee is limited to a maximum of $100.00 per price match request"
CSR "You can place an order immediately."
CUS "Your price is $799.99. Will you subtract the value of the "Ritz Digital Advantage" when calculating low price guarantee?"
CUS "Last question: do you have the Nikon Coolpix 995 in stock and ready to ship?"
CSR "The Ritz Digital Advantage will not be considered when calculating the price match cost."
CSR "Yes, the Coolpix 995 is in stock."
CUS "Great. I'll be placing an online order once I cancel my Photoalley order. Marc, thanks for all your help!"
CSR "You are welcome."
CSR "You can place an order right away."
CUS "Will do."
CSR "We will not charge your card until we are ready to ship."
CSR "You can place an order while at our website."
CSR "I will be glad to assist you in your purchase."
CUS "That's ok. I can handle it. Bye,."
CSR (Marc)

I'd order from Ritz, but I just checked and I managed to get a 3% ebates credit even though I used the MSN eshop website for my Photoalley purchase. Photoalley ran out of stock even though I placed my order on last Tuesday evening, 11/20/01, and won't be getting a new shipment for a week or so.

Has anyone gotten their MSN Holiday Reward confirmation e-mail? MSN CSR's say it will take "up to" a week to receive it. I ordered last Friday (during the holiday rush, no doubt), and I still haven't received confirmation. Anyone else?

I just blindly tried the trick that Lukfilm (I think) suggested to get the Crucial RAM first timer plus ebates credit. I logged onto ebates, went to Photoalley, and put the Coolpix in my shopping cart. In another browser window, I went through MSN eshop to Photoalley and bought the camera using MSN Passport, then closed up the ebates window. No guarantee that this will work again. YMMV.

I cancelled my order for the Nikon 995 from Photoalley and, instead, ordered it through the MSN Eshop promo and Ritz Camera. I realized (stupidly) after ordering that Ritz Camera has a limited (very limited, compared with the AMEX BVG) low price guarantee. Now, will this conflict with the one offered by AMEX and cause them to deny the claim? Has anyone every successfully used the AMEX BVG with Ritz Camera?

Is there something wrong with MP Superstore.com as they seem to have the cheaper price.

644.99 plus 33.3 shipping = 678.29
- 100 msn
- 100 rebate
- 135.99 PM AMEX
-----------------------
342.30

Ritz..
799.99
-100 msn
-100 rebate
-250 PM AMEX
------------------------
349.99
