Flaming hot!! Nikon 995 $350 after MSN and Amex PM, plus $100 GC you can use to buy some extra accessory

Nothing REALLY wrong with MP, but the deal is better when buying from Photoalley, when price matching with AMEX, mainly because you get the $100 Giftcard- if you ordered on the right day. Otherwise going strictly on price MP is cheaper, but they try and hard sell you tons of overpriced accessories. You can say no, but when you order on the web and they call you to sell more stuff it gets annoying.

Valvoline . . . well, I chickened out and cancelled my Ritz Camera order. I didn't want to risk blowing the $250; that's the lynch-pin in this whole deal for me. I reordered from Photoalley.com, but this time, I made sure everything, including all the documentation to AMEX, was smooth, clean, and not complicated, unlike before with all me switching orders and companies. I also cancelled my old AMEX claim to start the new one. I feel better . . .

As a humorous sidenote, though, I DID receive my confirmation from MSN for that first Photoalley.com order. However, it'll go away once Photoalley reports my first order was cancelled. Still, at least I know it is working, and I'll receive another one from my "good" order in a few days or so.

Just got word that my 995 shipped Saturday UPS ground. I ordered it on the 20th, but they ran out of initial stock before they could ship mine. On the 27th, they said they'd get stock within 7 business days. Mine shipped in three. I'm impressed with the responsiveness of Photoalley in dealing positively with the Anandtech effect.

For all the people who have decided to pricematch with AMEX:

After reading all the threads, I decided to buy the camera from RegencyCameras.com and get the rebate. However, after talking to
the sales rep, he told me that the camera they're selling is not the USA model, and does not qualify for the rebate nor warantee, which means that it MAY NOT work for pricematching with AMEX blue.

I just wanted to bring this to your attention, just in case AMEX decides to call RegencyCameras.

That's what AMEX has to go by. If a sales rep told you that, then that is merely heresay. Regardless of what Regencycamera's practices are, they do have stated policies.

I'm wondering if it's possible to exceed the $100 rebate by using multiple email address and/or name and address? I wonder what criteria M$ passport is using to check for this? The obvious thing would to use credit card numbers, but you can use Private Payments (AMEX). Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?

This my first post...bare with me please. I've read over the threads and am more confused than ever. What is AMEX (i know you guys are prolly laughing)? how easy is it to get a PM? Do you just call em up and tell them such and such place has it cheaper? How does the MSN passport work?

Lastly, which place worked best? Photoalley, ritzcamera, etc?

I need some input please, a play by play would be nice.. so i know what i need to do and say to the companies.

Anyway to get a FREE USB card reader for my AMEX Blue? The serial is shown free but usb $25 when I look thier webpage. I would much prefer the usb, and I swear I saw a link to get a free one at one time.. Didn't find it trying a search.. Maybe I was just seeing funny?

Got my Coolpix from Photoalley yesterday, along with the free binoculars. The latter are no great shakes, but they'll be fine as a stocking stuffer. I already ordered my wide angle attachment (WC-E63) from Photoalley using the $100 GC, and it's time today to do the Amex price match. Thanks for the great bargain!
