What's the cheapest land line you can get with SBC?

Hmm... I go through dslextreme.com (they are a reputable reseller) and I get sbc 3mb down/384 up for $22 a month and I don't have to have some long distance plan either.
They currently offer that same package for $25.

Keep in mnd that it is up to 3 Mb/s and 1.5 Mb/s speeds, respectively. Just a warning to many that the pro package VERY rarely gets anywhere close to the 3 Mb speed... I have it and my current downstream speed is 1.7 Mb/s. Won't be renewing that contract....

I've had the up to 1.5mb package and been getting 1.2mb for the past 2 years. The 3.0mb sounds tempting. Have you ever had the up to 1.5mb package before and what speeds did you get? I'm debating whether to spend the extra $10 for the pro package and hope I get 2.0 mb/s+ speeds. I wonder if their is anyway to test for potential speeds.
I'm about 4500 feet away from the CO.

Depends how close you are to the CO or RT and line conditions. Another big factor is the condition of the internal house wiring.
Most people should run a new line from the outside gray box to the DSL modem inside their homes.
All that factored in their is no reason why a phone line can't carry 5.2 megabits with the fastest package 6000/768 which is available from other DSL providers.
PS: Just because you have had bad luck or didn't run a new line to the modem in your home doesn't means others won't.

Question for the folks who are having no issue getting them to adjust their current monthly price.
What phone number are you using? I have struck out twice now.

I just called them and re-upped for one year at the new price with no problems at all

You have to have cable to get internet. Its Time Warner Road Runner service. I miss Comcast.

No he is right. Im beyond pissed with SBC, I had the 6000/608 package for $45 a month, I capped that easily, dowloads were average 600+KB/sec. However the SBC sales rep messed up and switched me down to the 3000/512 package, which can't be reversed since the 6000/608 package is no longer out there. Now obviously my line can handle alot more.... but instead of half the speed like it should be, so around 300KB/sec, I get 150-200KB/sec. He is right, most people even if their line is capable of it do NOT get the full 3Mb/sec.
