it already is down so if you haven't got it you are out of luck unless you want a knock off or someone uploads the app somewhere else.


Anyone who already has the app however can still play it as long as they don't uninstall it.

Maybe I don't understand the extent of what he was dealing with, but snapping because of mean twitter comments just seems odd. If the bullying was so severe that he feared for his life in the real world, then that's something else entirely. It's like the Fez fiasco all over again... these devs can't handle the criticism, but at the same time the Internet has allowed anonymous people to say any horrible things they want.

How did a ripoff of a 12+ year old flash game become so popular? I'm fairly sure even the "original" helicopter game already has an iPhone app that didn't do this well.

flappy bird first of all sounds stupid, so that's interesting, but second it has the word bird, and as you know bird is one of the words in the most popular mobile game ever. I assume this must be it.

I never played flappy bird, but taking it down at its height is really interesting. It's costing this guy tons of money. I guess I half admire him for it.

reading the article about him making $50k/day got me to look into mobile game programming over the weekend. i started looking at the cocos2D library for ios and man, it's pretty damn neat and powerful. i can definitely see how realistically it only took this guy 3 days to make this game. it probably isn't even very much code at all.

well hopefully i can come up with an idea to make $50k/day like this guy! wish me luck!

I downloaded the apk... uh... ridiculously hard game...w t f... I admit... I tried and tried... high score of 8... within a span of 10 minutes. I'm done.

It is surprisingly addictive, probably because you think you should be doing better. I saw some rage videos and thought what a bunch of clowns, I can do this forever. My high is 12, after ~20 total min of play. Whats messed up is I actually choke when I approach my high, or some significant number (5, 10). I dont get the vitriol though. Its a free game. Almost makes me think I should make a clone that is easy and charge $10, with ads.

My high score so far is 19 and that's only because my teenage daughter said her boyfriend's high score was 16 so I had to do my best to reinforce my dominance over the young man without going to jail.
