Flash drive or not to flash drive?????????

I've done a little searching for info on flash drives and some personal use of them. But I can't seem to be able to get a personal response from anyone. Just a lot of company stats. I bought an external CDRW but my wife fell in love with it and now it's on her desk. I shouldn't have bought the one with the DVD player.

So I'm here again asking for help. At least on this forum I'll get a honost answer, some jokes and a little flaming, medium-rare please. I just love this place.

I'm looking at getting a flash drive to take to work so I can down load info and upgrades at work. At home it takes to long on a dial-up. Most of the stuff I down load starts at around 6mb, drivers, etc. I've looked at an Iomega and a Mushkin 128MB with USB 2.0. Has anyone ever used one and how did you like it.

Yea, I find my Lexar 128MB useful since I can transfer data easily from PC to PC and from my PDA to the school computers (no wilan at my high school). Considering the cost of these, I'd get one.

Office Max has sold free after rebate 64MB USB2 drives, and there have been a few opportunities to get USB1.1 128MB drives for about $10 in the past. I'd say both 64MB and 128MB are good deals, whereas 256MB is still a bit costly. Best I've seen is a Sandisk 256MB Cruzer for $30 at Compusa.

I love my 64MB USB1.1 Lexar drive. Even without USB2 speeds it's pretty darn quick(over 1MB/s actual I think? seems about that fast). I use mine to transport Word/Excel files around, as well as data for labs and whatnot.

Sounds like you would benefit greatly from one of these little buggers, so I say grab one ASAP.

I use my 128 MB drive to back up my Quicken files, when done unplug it and put it a safe place. Quick, easy and painless, (I still back up to cd once a month but the flash drive is quicker for everyday use). Just saved my butt when a motherboard blew and I had to replace it and reinstall everything. Once you use one you'll wonder how you got a long without it.

I have been using my flash drive for months, a 256mb Lexar UBS 2 Hi Speed. I love it. Very portable and handy. Win 2000 and XP do not require any driver installation. After a week you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

I love my 256mb Cruzer mini, except for the cap. It came with three caps and two of them have cracked already. Seems to be the smallest flash drive, but it has a horrible design. Great when im not removing or replacing the cap. Definitely get a flash drive, just not the Sandisk Cruzer mini.
