There's also a thread on this in the Security forum. Link in the OP is good...that's the newly discovered vuln that was patched yesterday. Disabling Flash right now is the smartest thing to do. ISC increased their threat level to Yellow due to this, which they don't do regularly (although, has happened a couple of times recently due to Shellshock and Heartbleed).

From what I've read, Kafeine says that Flash in Chrome is safe since it runs in it's own sandbox.

Technically, I don't think you can get a non-vendor-locked replacement for video with DRM.

But otherwise there's this thing called Shumway...

Flash has never played nice with the Catalyst driver for my 4850, when it goes bad it goes all the way bad, BSOD and re-boot, it's like having Windows 98 all over again, yea!..

I think DRM is why flash is still sticking around and Microsofts Silverlight...ew.

I noticed that Netflix went to HTML5 but Amazon decided to go the Silverlight path. Which is interesting because Netflix used to use Silverlight.

DRM is another problem, and solutions shouldn't be based around restricting users. DRM is like putting finicky deadbolt locks on your screen door. Every so often they get dicked up, and you have to cut your door to get in the house. Anyone who really wants in, will get in anyway.
