It's not like people who are in politics for money and power, often referred to as God's will, have any real ideas about how to actually govern. I mean, think of the money that went into keeping Texas off the Fed grid. When it falls on its face there's not much Republicans can do but tilt at wind mills.

I never understood what the big deal is. If you have the means to flee a terrible situation I guess its bad if youre a Republican? Where was Beto staying? In a freezing house with no power or water?

I know right!! Stupid politicians thinking that because they are the most capable of getting government involved in helping ones constituents that they should actually do everything in their power to help those they represent!

I just want to know who are the fucking morons who vote for politicians and expect nothing from them?! Oh I see I already quoted one.

It seems the sole purpose of a Repub going to Washington DC is to, for no other reason, occupy a seat that could possibly be filled by a Democrat and to vote against anything the Democrats propose, knowing full well that the Repub party have no other viable alternative plans to counter-offer with ie- the ACA as well as those other essential social services that the Repubs want to get rid of that ironically helps their very own middle class and poverty-stricken constituency.

So I see that Ted was back in TX, handing out bottled water and pretending to care. Ted never checked that the water bottles date had already expired. And hand it to old Ted, he has already written off that failed trip to Mexico as a tax deductible business expense, including the entire family. If Teddy can't have his little Mexico vacation in the sun and fun, then someone's going to pay. Not Ted, but someone else like oh say the taxpayers.

Seriously. It's good though that we have a reminder that there are plenty of corrupt idiots that will continue to defend and vote for shit like Cruz.

What's your point, he's not in office. GWB lives in Texas, why are you not criticizing him for doing nothing? Apparently it is not because he is not in office, but because he a republican.

Yeah, just like a captain getting in the first life boat. It's not like he is a mechanic or engineer that can actually fix the ship, so why should he stick around.

I'm starting to understand why so many of my republican managers have been so terrible, apparently republicans have no understanding of what leadership is.

Beto stayed in Texas, and his organization made nearly 800,000 wellness check calls to seniors around the state and directed them to shelters and warming centers and other help. He also raised $1M for charity.

Cruz handed out a little bit of water.

What do you mean what? You just said that the top leadership in the state should flee a terrible situation if they have the means. No different than the top officers of a sinking ship taking the first lifeboat.

When you're an elected official, you're expected to act in a responsible manner and in the best interests of those who elected and employ you. In a crisis, you take the lead and go beyond yourself and work diligently to alleviate the troubles the people are facing.

It's not even like he went to Austin or DC and sat in a cushy office while making phone calls to try to help.

He just wandered off to a foreign resort.

He needs to resign.

He is a Texas Rep and I'm sure that the Texas Voters will elect their own mind for Their Representation when the time comes.

I don't live in Texas and it isn't my place to tell them how to elect Their representatives.

But Ted is what the people want - the same way they wanted unregulated power.... They got what they wanted and they got what they deserved only they don't understand why this is what they wanted or why they deserved the impact.

There is a reason this stuff is regulated - because you can't depened on corporations to do the 'right' thing if it takes a $1 from their $100,000,000 salary.

Why the fed is now giving them money because of this man made disaster is beyond me. The fix is simple elect some decent folks and regulate the power grid. An accident is when something unforeseen; this is manslaughter and the execs should be locked up for life for gross nel. or at the very release be docked 10 years of pay to cover this disaster.

He is a Texas Rep and I'm sure that the Texas Voters will elect their own mind for Their Representation when the time comes.

The republicans more than others have been talking shit for around 40 years about how they're the tough ones, the responsible ones, the ones who fix problems.
Its all horse shit. They criticize democrats for not being readily available during emergencies but if you bother to look up every emergency for the last decade or so its usually Republicans who are mysteriously absent when strong leadership is demanded. Thats natural disasters and terrorist attacks and civil unrest and pretty much every other incident.

The current situation is a prime example. Republican politicians and conservative pundits spent most of their work day talking shit about people who were not responsible for the storm, the power grid, or the emergency response.
The democrats actually did something useful.

But the snow in Texas is fake. It's all a plot by Bill Gates, or maybe Chyna to prove that global warming is a hoax, or maybe just to make Ted Cruz look bad..... I'm so confused...

Think republican - it is a plot to steal money from the federal govt.

Republicans want power but do not want to govern or even show an ounce of leadership.
