Flickering walls in Time Spy Graphics Test 2 - Does this mean my GPU is defective?

I just got a new GTX 1060 SC a few days back. It is on factory settings.

Thing is, I have done lots of stress testing - Firestrike stress test, Furmark (20 mins), Unigine Heaven...there is no artifacing in them. Zero games that crash as well.

Only specifically in the Time Spy Graphics Test 2, I see the walls flicker, and even then not always. I have run Timespy about 5 times, it happened twice. The first time I ran a few days back, I saw it happen. I got panicked. I reran 3 more times that day after running DDU, no flicker. Today, a week later, I run it again, and I see the flickering.

Is my GPU defective, or is this an isolated issue with Timespy?

Is there a chance this is just a bug? Or no chance?

I'm kinda afraid now - if there is an issue, and I need to send it back...given the lack of stock and distance I'm going to be out of a GPU for some time then.

I'd keep it for now, if you send it in they'll probably say it's fine and send it right back. This is a new card, so plenty of time to claim warranty if you actually start noticing it in games.

Could be a bug too, in dx12 the application has much more responsibilities.

When you want to consider sending it back I'd do a more elaborate test, run timespy 15 times or something, note how many times you see the artifacts, then clock the card and memory back a bit, run it another 15 times to see if that stops it.

Funny thing is, this doesn't happen always.

Yesterday I got it twice in a row at stock settings , then I downclocked by -65MHz and there was no issue, and afterwards I overclocked by 85MHz and there was no issue either.

So it's a really weird thing.

could be temperature related.
what is the GPU temp at idle? max load during test? what is the room temp? you can use tools like GPU-Z to check.
did you set a manual fan speed curve? im asking because if you did and its too low, the GPU will overheat.

I had the same thing happen on my EVGA 1060 SC card and I posted about it a while ago in another thread. I just assumed that it will need to be some driver optimizations because the light rays aren't as transparent as they should be either. On other benchmarks, I didn't notice any other issue.
