ANY infared remote. You program each button press to mimic a keyboard stroke. So yes, you could use your A/C remote to control your RaspPi.

So how are conflicts handled? If I use my tv remote and I'm using kodi, if I program page up in kodi to be channel up does it also change the channel on the tv?

Yes. The device can't know what other devices are listening. It can only react when you tell it to react.

You can used an unused menu on your remote, like switch the remote to DVD mode (or whatever alternate mode your remote has). Then, you can program any button to do send any keyboard command.

It could. It will take any IR signal and program it to a key.

That's a great buy on those cases. The biggest problem with putting a Pi in a case is the heat doesn't dissipate. The FLIRC cases are all metal with a post that makes contact with the SoC and basically turns the whole thing into a heatsink. Works very well.

Apparently for the Pi 2's they don't line up like the Pi 1's did for heatsink usage. I almost bought that case until I read that.

There is some overlap but I would say that 80% of the SoC is contacted. I had my reservations at first and was planning on cutting a hole in it to add a case fan but it works so well with my Pi2 that it's not necessary.
