Either this is a hoax, a scam, or else the sorriest website for a major project I've seen in a while. I would avoid this like the plague.

"Freedom Ship, a soon to be constructed, massive ocean-going vessel. With a length of 4,320 feet, a width of 725 feet, and a height of 340 feet"

"and the Gypsy 2000 which will be a 2,000 foot version of the Freedom Ship to be used as a convention center"

for all those of you wanting to go live on the loveboat...

An economy unit (designated EU) has just been added to the pre-construction sales list. It has a full bath, but no kitchen. It is 300-square feet and sells for $121,000 (first 1,000 sales). The monthly maintenance fee is $442. Time share program is available at $40,000 (first 1,000 sales) with a monthly $70.00 maintenance fee, go to the Residential Unit Pricing for details.

They are looking at 90000 res that have spend roughly $1000000 per home that would translate to 50 billions in sale, not including commercial space :Q

I'd hate to be a construction worker in the Honduras building this thing... that's smack in the middle of hurricane territory, right?

Seems to me that unless you have a window room, it's like living in a giant underground bunker. Stupidest thing I have ever seen.
Why do such a large one right away? Why not build one for 5000 people and see if people want to live in it all year.

I thought I saw something like this on the Travel channel. It was a partnership between Carnival and somebody else. But supposedly they are or going to start building it for real.

holy sh!t! that thing is unbelievable.

I don't think they would make it unless they are sure it could withstand a hurricane. Then again, they could always drive in in areas of the oceans that do not get hurricanes and also not go through those areas during hurricane season. The only way to get people on that boat would be via plane, so whenever they make a tourist stop I bet it would take days to get everyone off the boat.

Actually, at the speeds it's likely to move at I suspect there wouldn't be much of anything. Plus, didn't they say something about anchoring it like 30 miles off shore? That's quite a ways.

wasn't Marriot and a couple other big hotel firms getting together to build a hotel in space? I heard that some time ago. Did that come to a halt or something?

That thing is so long that - in the unlikely event that do build it, IMO - the bottom will have a curved surface to accomodate the curvature of the Earth (or sea, as it may be)
