Isn't this the Hungarian blueprint that Tucker and several others on the right have promoted?

Hey it's not outright concentration camps, I guess. Always a silver lining!

As we move though the relocation process out of TX one of our stated reasons to my husband's employer is "hostile state political climate" for people such as us.

The GOP brand and the states they control are built on one thing: hating anyone perceived as "other". If you're not a Leave It to Beaver American, you're on the list.

I coming to the conclusion that part of the states motivation is to make the state hostile to any non-authoritarian and drive them out.

If they turn the state into a hell-hole and drive out enough people it’ll be easy to stay in power with the remaining right who just care that the right people are being hurt more.

With a complaint court they're going to get away with a lot. A lot of people forget that progress can be rolled back and I'm not sure we (Americans generally) are really prepared for what's coming.

That's probably part of it sure. We're in for a new age of social conservatism where the religious (proper Christians of course) are allowed to do nearly anything under the protection of the highest court in the land. It may not be popular or even politically wise but it's happening.

The disturbing thing with this extreme right wing agenda, they have found a new weapon to use. THE CHILDREN. PARENTS RIGHTS. And this alone not only "could" but definitely "will" lead to their true agenda, to reverse marriage equality, and to allow states to pass religion objection laws against gays and to pass laws allowing business to refuse doing business with gays, and.... to allow schools to legally fire any teacher that they determine or discover to be gay.

Parents rights..... The children....
The new tools of bigotry and homophobia because every knows, there are no gay children nor gay parents. The entire world is straight.
Straight.... Straight.... Straight....

When Putin takes over the United States, he will have little to do. The righties would have done everything for him.

And so..... if THE CHILDREN need protecting then how about protecting THE CHILDREN from their homophobic parents??? Can Florida pass a law for THAT?

What happened to home schooling children to protect them from that evil world out there. Why take it out on the general public.

Can't do that, they need someone else to babysit.

They need someone else to boss around. Babysitting is a result, but not the primary reason. These people love acting more important than they actually are.

The worse Disney could do is close their parks and stores...That would hurt them more than it would hurt Florida. (although tourism WOULD take a hit.)

Historian Eric Cervini explores Disney's shifting response to legislation in Florida known by opponents as the "Don't Say Gay" bill.
Wait so now corporations shouldn't have free speech?
Or maybe legislators shouldn't draft garbage legislation that targets vulnerable populations.

Fuck em.

Have any of you morons even bothered to research the details of this legislation? Trying to limit adults leading discussions with 6 and 7 years about sex and gender identity is taboo for Liberals? Nothing like creepy adult strangers are wanting K- 3rd graders to contact them privately and have sex and gender identity discussions. .

Kids sometimes want to talk. Why do you insist on trying to turn this into Perversion when it is simply about Life.

Have you? You post the link but you even failed to read it. If you did, you would have answered your question already.

You are amazing. You comment on thread related to a Florida law. Then post a tweet from someone in North Carolina.

Do you still not feel comfortable with being gay? It’s okay. We need to be careful since your intellect is that of a six year old. The way this law is written, you cannot discuss it in this thread.

Republicans have a way of deaminizing shit that doesn't exist like CRT in public schools. What makes this any different?

Weren't the "don't upset white kids in school" laws enough for you?

My sister's daughters were talking about vaginas when they were that age. Completely asexual but just as part of books they read that didn't cloak things. I mean apparently kids ask about their...gasp.... OWN fucking bodies.

Conservatives want to repress reality. Like in everything. From bodies to votes to democracy to diversity. They just are horrific people.

This is exactly what the law does though. If they can't talk about it in public, then it will happen in private.
Have you ever meet a 6 year old? Make a topic forbidden, and that will be the ONLY topic they want to talk about.
The laws already make it illegal to have an inappropriate discussion with children (about anything really), this law just bans a subject altogether, even if the dissuasion is appropriate.

This law is like banning giving children liquids at all to make sure that no one give them alcohol. Giving children alcohol is already illegal, so all you are really banning is giving children water.

This conservatives want to hang their hat on to protect kids, yet they do nothing about mass shootings in schools.

It's also the same party that fought the existence of school lunch programs since I can remember.
