There is nothing to discuss as there is exactly one option available. No amount of control, testing, licensing, restricting, or otherwise limiting guns will solve the problem. The one and only solution is to eliminate all firearms in the US. This would quite literally be a war on guns, and it would most likely work about as well as the war on drugs.
Not true.
A lot can be done.
Banning these weapons would solve a lot of this.
When some guy wants revenge or feels as the outcast, I bet he would think twice before entering a school with a simple 6 shooter hand gun or his dads shot gun vs a full multi-shot assault weapon used in war.
One can never "stop" killings but... we can greatly reduce the carnage and I would bet greatly reduce this from happening. It is certainly worth a try.
If some kid has a problem with a classmate, teacher, principal, no doubt it could happen where that kid would bring a hand gun into school and shoot that one person. Kill him or her.
But to mow down 17+ kids in one swoop of an assault weapon?
Yes, there IS a difference.
And this is a very simple fix.
Ban these weapons and make owning one or possessing one 100% illegal.
Remove any of these assault weapons that currently exist through a buy-back system.
Then.... and if necessary, those that weapons that are registered instruct law enforcement to confiscate going door to door.
Heck! They'd do the same if one were discovered making bombs and nukes in their basement.
Or meth.
Remove the guns, ban the guns, outlaw the guns, and the NRA can just suck it up.
Tonight there are a lot of parents and families totally destroyed from todays assault.
And if you do the math, 17 killed times two parents = 34 American citizens that I bet will no longer support allowing these weapons to exist. A crass statement but all too true.
If we had 17 legislators gunned down in congress, they would take action tonight in special session.
That action limited to further banning guns in the area of Washington and congress. Increase security checks. More and harsh laws that would only apply to protecting congress, and protecting no one else.
Congress would pass laws tonight, immediately, but laws that stop at their door before exiting into society.
They know exactly what is wrong and what exactly needs to be done.
They all know, those congressional members as well as this president.
And they would take action, tonight, but if and only if one of their own had been gunned down on the floor of congress. And Donald Trump would support their action. Gladly sign on the dotted line.
However, such action stops at their congressional door.
What we can do:
Refuse to vote for anyone that believes owning an assault weapon is just fine or some twisted American right.
Kick out anyone in congress that currently believes assault weapons are ok AND anyone insane enough to believe owning such a weapon of mass destruction A PROTECTED PERSONAL RIGHT.
Vote in more women. It seems women are more logical when it comes to protecting kids and supporting gun laws.
So Rick Scott is now up there on screen whining about keeping kids safer and keeping this from happening again. But he stops at enacting laws and supporting common sense gun control.
Rick is a fool.
Rick Scott might as well have the shooter at his side exchanging winks, smiles, and promising not to take his guns away.
What a sick society we live in.
And we need to stop electing these sick people like Rick Scott into office.
Prayers alone just isn't going to do it. We need people to vote then demand change.
Or else, vote those a-holes out too then start the process all over again.
As often as it takes.
