I've got a much better idea. Give all blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, and illegal immigrants free and unfettered access to AR-15's with virtually no restrictions whatsoever.

That'll probably spook the GOP to make any actual changes to gun laws.
Hmm. I suspect you read your history as to why Republicans enacted gun legislation in the first place.

So, it's not easier and far more restrictive.
It's comparable. Some things are more onerous (insurance, locker, mental check for <25) and some are more lenient (clip sizes, probably weapon sizes, a few more things I'm sure if I dug enough).

Minorities already have access to those types of guns. All they have to do is go to a gun store and buy one, like any American. I'm all for that, I hope minorities in America also embrace their 2A rights.
Still waiting for your root cause enlightenment? Or have you forgotten already?

Aren't we in a civil war? Turn on the news. We easily have the most divisive culture out of any peaceful country. Our news probably more closesly mirrors that of Syria than of any EU country.

I turned on the news and there is no indication of a civil war.
Wait...I usually tune into NPR.

Let me try again
(Turns on Foxnews)
Oh...I see what you mean.

What if they are smokers?

You know who don't usually commit any of these mass shootings? Women.

Mandatory estrogen pills probably is a cure to all gun violence.

Vermont and New Hampshire are the 2 lowest gun murder rates

Vermont.
New Hampshire.

Maybe colleges were right, do we need safe spaces? Those northeast states are fairly homogeneous.
If I had to guess, the adventurous types all moved out a long time ago. Leaving a natural selection of laid back and easy going folks.
If we don't touch the 2A, then we could study the Northeast, develop a physiological profile, and start to define the traits of gun murdering states, then come up with methods of bridging the divide between the worst offenders and the best outcomes.

I think it's weird that my comment about "giving illegal immigrants free and unfettered access to AR-15's" got overlooked. You'd think someone would throw up their arms over something like that.

I've concluded 2A absolutists in this thread don't give 2 shits about mass/school shootings.

They claim so called lefites don't understand the "root cause" but we have yet to hear any of their solutions besides do nothing.

Damn straight. Hey Republicans, what actions are you going to take to prevent these shootings?
They need to be hammered 24/7, hounded like dogs, over stopping at thoughts and prayers.

That has been very clear for a long time, it would be nice if they would just come out and say it though: "I think near-daily mass murders are an acceptable price to pay for a personal right to own a firearm."

That's the inescapable logic of their position, they are just too cowardly to admit it because once you say it that way just how monstrous it is becomes clear.

Off the gun argument for a second. Was this already posted in the thread?

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/b...g/fl-school-shooting-cruz-20180214-story.html

  • He was adopted by an older couple
  • His adoptive father died several years ago
  • His mother died @68 years old in November of complications from the flu (pneumonia)
  • He was living with friends of the family at the time of the shooting.
He was basically orphaned in the last three months. So no direct family to keep tabs on him, recently an adult (19 year old) so no CPS to keep an eye on him, and finally a history of anger and psychological issues, (diagnosed undiagnosed?).

Back to the gun stuff.

He reportedly had a legally purchased AR15 that the family friends who he was staying with required to be locked up in a gun safe but who also gave him a key to the safe. They reportedly only ever saw him shooting pellet guns.

This is both the blessing and the curse of the platform as it was originally designed to be used effectively by people with little to no firearms experience.

In the past I've stated that I think universal background checks could do some good over time and that doesn't affect the rights of gun owners. I've said that people should be able to be stripped of their right to own a gun in some circumstances, so long as due process is followed. Do you agree those steps could make a difference?

So Florida allows a mentally disturbed person who has already threatened to kill people with an AR-15 to purchase an AR-15?

What could possibly go wrong

Serious question. What actions did the democrats take under Obama when they actually for a period of time had the votes to do so?

The answer of course is nothing. Anyone who makes this about party is selectively blind.

Try answering the question. You guys are in charge of everything now. What do you propose to mitigate this crisis? More do nothing??
