As long as you keep making this about political division and stereotype then expect nothing to get done. The reality is when you take politics out of it there is a shit load of middle ground that most americans share in regard to firearm ownership and firearm laws.

The people, maybe. The Congress bought and paid for by the NRA? Decidedly not. They deserve all the scorn we can muster.
If they seek forgiveness they can start by doing the right thing, and to stop opposing this middle ground you think exists.

Are you here to play games? You speak of a Middle Ground, but if we push for such action - do you then label us a problem?

EO is not legislation which was in my original point.
Fine, it isn't legislation, but don't go blaming Dems for 'failure to act' when Republicans are actively ripping apart even 'symbolic' gestures within a month and a half of being elected.

Truthfully, people like you is why nothing gets done. You're so focused on attempting to appear "non-partisan" with your false equivalencies that you give cover to the true partisans on this issue. So, instead of your meaningless platitudes why don't you give us some of these "middle" ground ideas you propose.

So knowing what we know about this guy you are ok with selling him an AR-15. That's fucked up. I guess you missed his social media posts where he threatened to kill people with an AR-15

With his history at a minimum purchase should have been held up pending a more extensive background check.

Fucking hell Homer. Where did I say I was ok with selling him an AR? Current law is ok with it. People are asking how he was able to buy one...Doesn't take a moron to figure out the how. It takes an entire political system and public to change that.

The rest of your response fucking agreed with what I asked and said. Go back and read what you responded to.

what a blatant piece of demonstrable bullshit. You can't make such a profoundly ignorant statement in the same breath that you wet your pants over the phantom prospect of evil gun-grabbing Democrats knocking on your door to take away your guns. You bitch about Obama's EO "not being effective" for some reason, admitting, again, that at least the dems are doing shit about it--something, anyway--then say that they don't care?

what fucking planet did you arrive from? Biden spent what, 4 months working on a bill, post-Sandyhook, only to watch the Pubs wet their pants and shake their heads that they would never allow anything to be done about murdered children in this country. Not one thing.

I'll remember how often you bitch about Democrats doing awful things regarding your guns the next time you claim they don't have the intestinal fortitude to do anything about your guns.

Maybe you have a mental disorder and should be on a list... Note the bolded above. Please point to where I implied I'm wetting my pants about gun grabbing democrats, because if you had two fucking brain cells you'd have already figured out that 1. I'm not party aligned and 2. I'm not some far right wing moron.

Keep projecting though if it helps you cope.

Yes, I was leaning towards Clinton, I bought into the Trump-fear propaganda the left was peddling. Towards the back end of the election I was starting to warm up to Trump, after the election I felt he was clearly the right choice in time. Not sure why you don't believe this, it isn't some sort of tall tale. Neither option was perfect to me, you have to pick one that is better than the other, though.

That is what is wrong with the two party system... Lack of choices best highlighted by this last election.

If one cannot get forward momentum on a direct course, an indirect course must be utilized instead. Rather than throwing hands up stating 'nothing can be done', at least a half-step forward was taken to at least *NOTIFY* the government if someone had the potential to cause harm. If it was largely symbolic and 'did nothing', then why the shit was it so important that Trump had to nullify it? Nothing better to do as president?

I'd rather he make or nullify EO's than sign legislation. The reason the markets love him is because they could bank on the next four years post his election on Trump accomplishing mostly nothing.

I'd rather him sit in corner with wet noodles than let him make decisions which may result in measurable consequences, such as nullifying the requirement for federal agencies to report potential mental illnesses to NICS. I don't give a flying monkey's ass if it's symbolic, legislative, or carried down the mountain by Gandalf.

I'm a gun owner who is clearly politically moderate and doesn't pass any of the litmus tests that any on the left or right require me to pass to consider me on their side of the issues. Most of us here are likely that way anyway. Legislation that protects a citizen's rights to due process while not stomping all over their rights (again see due process) would be favorably looked at and probably supported by yours truly.

Trump said that maybe some 2nd Amendment people should do something about Hillary.

We all had a good laugh over that one.

I'm a yuge supporter of the 2nd amendment.

I personally would support funding for gun control studies if it was matched dollar for dollar on funding of studies of the socioeconomic and environmental factors of violence gun control notwithstanding.

Because I personally don't want more gun control, I want far less, so I'd like to find the cause of the violence, and broader scale research is the only way to accomplish that.

This is the type of rights limiting stuff that makes me donate to the NRA.

I've concluded that Libtards don't give 2 shits about anything that doesn't produce headlines or TV ratings. It's a race to call people with dissimilar viewpoints as racists or morons and then back slap themselves into coma because they solved the problem with insults and sarcasm.

that's weird. You guys voted for a game show host as POTUS only because he produces headlines and TV ratings. It's weird that you don't realize that your brain is doing this.

I don’t know why but this line from Shrek always occurs to me in these threads.

Just can’t put my finger on why.

That's a stupid way of looking at guns... why? Because it is true of just about any freedom. Freedom to own cars? People die. Freedom to have hammers and bats? People die. Freedom of speech, even to say mean things? People die. Freedom to own household chemicals and poisons? People die. Freedom to drink and own alcohol? People die. Freedom to use tobacco? People die. Freedom to own matches and jugs of gasoline? People die. Freedom to own knives? People die. Freedom to have a dog? People die.
