Lived here all my life and I think the hot and humid climate sucks - feels like an armpit for 9 months out of the year. Agree about the crap scenery, except for the coastlines.

MOST groceries and MOST foods are not taxed, but not all.

If you go to the grocery store and purchase a six-pack of Coke, a deli sandwich, a bag of M&Ms, a box of popsicles and a bottle of mouthwash, they will all be taxed.

That is probably because you failed to understand the word "Grocery". Your shopping cart does not contain any Grocery Items.

I like Florida. Oceans, warmth, sun (yet still has a variety of weather), hurricanes. etc... Moved here from Denver at the beginning of the year for a new job. I would like it more, however, if I lived somewhere closer to a bigger city like Miami or Tampa. I miss that feeling of living downtown in a big city.
To be honest, I know I'm going to miss the scenic landscape and cold weather (to a point...mostly the fall colors) of Colorado.

Good luck having that in Tampa.

On some parts that is true.. however 3 years ago I moved to Florida from Jersey/NY for the following reasons:

Warm weather, beautiful in winter and October-April
Low property taxes with 3% increase shield.
No state income tax
Lowest 3 counties are northerners
Clean beach nearby
Cheaper housing
Huge screened in patios-good for cats and dogs
Close to: Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens, Cruises, snorkling, etc.
Sunlight all year round unlike the north where it is dark and cold 8 months out of the year.

The sheer number of non-English speaking residents in southern Florida is disturbing.

The sheer amount of trash lining the sides of some of the roads in Luisiana is also disturbing.

Idaho seems to have nothing but potatos.

North Dakota wishes they had something noteworthy like potatos.
