what would be funny is if one of the other people there that didn't get tased had a baseball bat and while the cops were bent over tending to the tased person, that they got their skulls crushed in. Now that would have been hilarious. maybe i watch too much tv.
what would be funny is if you ever contributed something of value to a thread...

Not sure if same link but it appears to be the same video after watching it

Thanks.

The part that annoys me the most is that these guys were arrested for walking in the street, a street that doesn't have sidewalks! Wtf!

Again, white officers policing a black neighborhood, escalating something ridiculous. Police training or the lack there of in this country is obviously an issue.

And, as the guy taking the video happened to point out (and film), further up the street were a number of people walking/standing in the street including the older woman who was tased. <shrug>

Police created an unnecessary situation, escalated it and engendered good will throughout the community. Job well done. Not to mention, all of those wasted resources probably equals a decently constructed sidewalk.

This women was being told to not come near the arresting officers, and when she refused to back up, as was being said, the officer approached her to arrest her. She then, pulls out of the officers grasp and starts to leave. At that point, rather than chase her down, he tases her. Now, I don't think it entirely appropriate, but it sure isn't rage inducing. I could have easily caught up to her and grabbed her for the arrest.

I agree. She should learn to listen. She would have been fine had she backed off when told to by the first officer. Resist arrest and you get what you asked for Zap!

Where did you get that information as I didn't see it in the article. It said:

Several people were walking in the street but moved out of the way when another officer drove past them. They walked back into the street behind behind the officer, who then pulled over and approached them. Police reports say the people were blocking traffic.

The officer, according to court documents, got out of his car and approached Quontarrious Jones, 23, and ordered him to stop walking multiple times. Jones was arrested on a charge of resisting without violence.

While Jones was being arrested, Laguna Young, 41, and Quaneshia Rivers, 20, both started yelling at the officers. They, too, were arrested for resisting without violence. Young also was arrested on a charge of probation violation.

Shortly after the arrests, Viola Young approached officers and started yelling at them as they commanded a crowd to stay back from the area. Mahan told her to stay back.

“I just want to know what is going on,” she shouted at officers.

Mahan told her she was under arrest, but Young moved away from him. As she was walking away.

So it wasn't "Just walking in the street " as you claimed.

Did you watch the video? Did it look like a busy street? Especially, a busy street where a couple of people walking down it would block traffic?

btw, you might also remember (if you watched the video) there was no sidewalk.

Yes I watched the Video.

Nobody said it was a busy street. Streets are for cars. There is plenty of grass beside the street to walk on. Did you see all that grass?

Did you see where it said :

That is what got him in trouble. The others for poking their noses into it.

The fact that the cop has been suspended without pay shows that your racist hatred is making your look like a damn fool.

I am sorry,...but where is the resistance or the justification for using the Tazer...... how can you construe walking away as resisting??

Haven't watched the video yet, but by the comments, it seems that while the arrest might have been justified, the use of force required for the arrest appears to be unnecessary.

I would gather the suspension is due to the officer not following police procedure with regard to when the taser can be used and how it is used. Does the officer announce the use of the taser at all? Many departments require that to be done, if possible, as just announcing its use can get people to comply.

Cops are above the law. Look at what they do to hippies.

And the use of the fog sprayer there could be completely justified. If those people are trespassing and refusing to leave, using the fog spray is definitely a way to get people to disperse. Otherwise, the cops would need to go hands on with the subjects, which of course would get people upset that the cops had to do that then.

Fog? That was mace! Those were UC Davis students on the campus.

They sued the school and got a settlement.

That's what a fogger sprays. Although nowadays, it's not mace, but OC spray, which is technically an aerosoled chili pepper.

And I didn't say they weren't students. I was just saying that using the spray could be justified and gets people to disperse without the need for going hands on with the subjects.

Well, technically it was not justified, according to a court of law.

Seems you are the problem, you will defend police no matter how shitty they are. As expected

Not true. I even said in this thread that the officer was probably not justified in using the taser. With regard to the photo, I was pointing out that the use of the fogger can be appropriate. As pointed out, the courts stated otherwise in that particular case.

She was a threat. Her back was so big it frightened the officer who then had to make a split second decision.
