Flying with Trees!? (will TSA allow plants?)

I am in Florida on vacation.
Tomorrow, I fly back to Ohio.

I picked up a few bonsai trees while down here and am carrying them on the plane with me, in a dufflebag.

TSA's website doesn't list plants or trees as Prohibited items.
All the google searches I can think of also say that the TSA doesn't care about plants for domestic flights.

Do you think I'll get them through?

i think only international flights where they are afraid of non-native species coming in worry about plants. i would call the airline and ask if you really want to be sure.

TSA/airline should be fine if they meet size restrictions. That said, check if Ohio has any live plant importation restriction. I know many states do, particularly ones with large agricultural industries (e.g. California)...for VERY good reason.

Yep. Check with the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture. States can be pretty fussy about importing agricultural pests from other states.

So I clicked on this thread because I saw a lady on my last flight with some basil plants. I asked if she had to run them through the detectors and she said yes, but they didn't hassle her too much. Oddly enough, that flight was also from Florida to Ohio (Tampa to Columbus).
