This is not a big deal. Just explain your situation (ID stolen) and be cooperative.

Going through secondary screening is not fun. Not only could you miss your flight because you're delayed, but you DO GET FINGERPRINTED. Well, i guess that might not bother some of you guys.

Since you can fly without ID, why postpone the interview?

So many lies, where to begin...I've done it many times and it takes maybe an extra 10-15 mintues and you do not get fingerprinted. The OP should just get there 30 minutes earlier than normal and not worry about it. This is not a big deal, if anyone asks you why you don't have an ID just be honest.

A passport would be fine and you can usually get one in 24 hours if you pay the fee for it.

24 hours?? Are you kidding?

Actually, I just checked the USPO website and I can't find anything about getting a passport rushed.

You can do it in Canada, but it costs almost double the standard fee.

I live in the DC area and I have heard of people who have gone down to the passport office and received there passport in 24-hours. However, I think it has to be some kind of emergency situation.

If you need it w/in 24 hours, you have to show them proof of your travel.

I got mine down in DC at the passport place. I was leaving for Aruba on a Thursday and I went the Friday before. However I forgot my itenerary.

When I told them I needed it rushed but I didn't have my itinerary, she said it was okay that I can still rush it for 3-4 days w/out the proof of travel, and that the proof is only needed if you need it that same day.

I still had to pay I think $60 expediting fee.

Also, the "rush" on the passport is NOT 24 hours, unless they changed something in the last 3 weeks. I got my passport recently and even with paying $200 for it (including rush fees) at the post office, it took a week.
I agree with m316foley, I'd just go for a state ID card. You should be able to get that within a few minutes.

However, m316foley is wrong about the rush passport. There are many companies that will rush you a passport in 24 hours. This is one random Google link.

thats cause you got it at the post office. you have to go specifically to the passport places. they are listed on a government website somewhere.

I know for a fact there's a box on the passport form to get it rushed along with an extra fee. As for renting a car, just go to your DMV and get temp papers.

When you rush it, you get it in a couple of weeks instead of a couple of months.

The best solution is to go get a state ID which you should be able to walk out the door with.

I agree you should, California is weird I don't know why they charge us like 25 bucks to get a replacement and still make us wait 2 weeks.

why does it take so long to get a drivers license? It takes about 15 minutes to get one in GA, wouldn't it be basically the same in most states?

it varies, I mean I got my license taken away *long story* I went to the Court House to get what you need to have done to get your license back. And it wasn't even done electronically in my town! I had to wait like 11 days and every day my car was in impound was another 80 or so bucks. I'm sure in GA it would have been electronic so it would be instant.

California is backwards in a lot of things for being so high tech. *shrug*
