Everyone knows Its nothing more then prep work for Trump to try and fire Mueller.

And that is really disturbing. It really looks like Fox and the GOP are working on laying the groundwork for an outright dismissal of anything Mueller's investigation finds. This is one of the propaganda techniques we have been talking about, you throw a bunch of chaff in the air, and then later when you need to discredit something you can refer back to it as if it was real.

I don’t really understand why the GOP praised him so much to begin with if their plan was to turn on him if he found something.

Was their plan that they thought the investigation would find nothing so having the Special Prosecutor look good would help? If so that’s incredibly naive. Anyone who knows anything about Trump should understand that there’s a high probability he was involved in some shady shit over the years. Some sort of troubling finding by Muller should have been assumed.

I would like to throw out the idea that some of Trump's lies are actually denial proper, as in he doesn't consciously recognize he's telling a falsehood at the time, and possibly could not even accept it when confronted with direct evidence after the fact. I don't have any special knowledge of Trump specifically, but I do have knowledge of this mental capacity in action, and perhaps denial (as a mental operation) is a better fit for his behavior than lying.

Many have assumed that he is a liar who deliberately and knowingly deceives the public. Others have contemplated whether he truly believes some of the nonsense that comes out of his mouth, thus challenging the notion that he is consciously lying. Of course, they are not mutually exclusive. Trump may be a true believer one day and a liar the next.

Some people will suggest the president actually believes in his own BS most of the time, and that he has come to live in his own warped version of reality. A man who decides what is true and what is false (i.e., “fake news”), regardless of the evidence. He has even come to question certain things that he had previously acknowledged as true (The Billy Bush recording). It seems, he's been a bullshit artist for so long that he has come to believe in much of his own bullshit. When one builds his entire career on fabrications and "Truthful Hyperbole" it is not surprising that they eventually come to believe the hype, especially when surrounded by an army of enablers and followers who would gladly bend and take a knee for him.
