Going there for dinner tomorrow night. Is it a one price for everything excluding drinks/desert type thing, or priced based on what you get? Doesn't really matter to me, just curious. I'm under the impression your cost is for salad/meat/bread/drinks, and alcohol is extra.

So, for you people who have gone, did you skip the salad and dig right into the steaks, or is that considered poor form and ate a small salad and then dug into the meat?

Yes its all you can eat. Order a Caipirina as well for a Mojito like Brazilian drink.

They start bringing you selections the second you turn your table marker over to the GO position. They stop bringing you meat when you turn it over to the STOP side.

The salad bar isnt bad. I like the hearts of palm and the rice and beans with farofa.

It's buffet, you eat what you want to eat. They bring the meats in a spit to your table and if you want it, they slice some for you. Rest you fetch yourself.

I find eating some greenery helps me put away more meat

i usually hit up the salad bar for some of the expensive stuff (smoked salmon), but i wouldn't consider it poor form to not fill up on roughage.

I usually make a point of getting just a few pieces of celery to help the bulk beef along its way.

it's fixed price based on the service that you want. Definitely hit up the salad bar for a serving, then just sit in your seat with your mouth open, as they come by and shovel meat into your gaping maw.

In the end...it's OK, but definitely not worth the cost. Is there one in Kansas, or do you happen to be visiting Chicago? If the latter, I'd recommend Woodfire Grill, which is across the street from Fogo, as they have much better steaks than Fogo's type of meat. But Fogo is more of a go and say you did it sort of place, so difficult to pass it up if you haven't been. :\

I am pretty sure drinks and desserts are not included but it has been a while.

drinks and desserts are extra, and get tap water or they'll get you a $20 bottle of "spring water from italy".

I'm going to one in Kansas City, Missouri and we are being treated by a business partner who will write everything off so he has even asked us to show up early for drinks. There are about 12 of us who will be attending.

I ate at the one in DC a year or so ago. I enjoyed it at the time, but I think it's something I wouldn't do again. I also felt terrible later that evening/the next day, from eating way too much meat.

i've eaten at 3 of these types of restaurants, and fogo de chao was my least favorite. they had way too much salt on just about every cut of meat.

it was still good i've juts had better.

my favorite one was chima in tysons corner, va. not sure if it's a chain or not. 2nd best was over in barbados, and fogo de chao in dc is my least favorite. i wouldn't go back to fogo de chao though, simply because chima is better.

Love Fogo de Chao. Unlimited steak. What else can you ask for?

ps. I normally get a very tiny salad.

Then it's authentic

They are an excellent brazilian-style chain that is enjoyed by americans, AND brazilians, including my family in sao paulo. For a brazilian, you sure don't get out much.

Picanha!!!! Also the cheesy bread....

I love the cheesy bread! Called pao di quiejo in brazil, and pan de queso in spanish. Yoki makes an excellent pao di quiejo mix. Not as heavy as homemade, but chewy and awesome.

The girlfriend wants to go for her birthday in December. Haven't been myself, but I don't think we'll be disappointed with all-you-can-eat steak.

I would sample the cuts of meat and avoid the ones you don't want -

I would not be shy about asking for a rare piece or a large hunk either. They serve what you want and some of the choices are just blah.

I'm not a fan of AYCE places as I think you end up getting full and not enjoying the meal enough.

I ate at FogoDeChao in Chicago and thought the salad bar had more interesting flavors than the gluttonous amount of meat they serve you.

Since meats are heavier/denser than other foods, you might feel full faster than you originally thought.

So make sure you try a variety of different meats before you start really gorging on the bacon-wrapped filet Mignon.

It's pricey, but worth it on occasion. I've been to Fogo, Texas de Brazil, and a couple local ones.

I hit the salad bar for the smoked salmon, shrimp, and asparagus. One of the ones (I think Texas) had ceviche and sushi.
