Can they use the DMCA to stop this?

You know the thing is you can't really tell who's in which coffin. They're totally identical in every way and there's no names on the outside or anything. How are these pictures insensitive to anyone? I'm serious here.

The ban on press and public access to the returning caskets has been in effect since 1991. It continued through President Clinton's eight years in office and into the current Bush administration. Although the ban is not new, Bush has been criticized by some for failing to lift it.

How the ban started:

CNN:
Just before the first Gulf War, then-Defense Secretary Dick Cheney and then-Joint Chiefs Chairman Colin Powell issued an order prohibiting any news media coverage of the coffins returning to the Dover, Delaware, Air Force Base.

WA Post:
But in early 1991, at the time of the Persian Gulf War, the Pentagon said there would be no more media coverage of coffins returning to Dover, the main arrival point; a year earlier, Bush was angered when television networks showed him giving a news briefing on a split screen with caskets arriving.

Yes, this has nothing to do with protecting the families of the deceased soldiers but everything to do with protecting the President. If Bush wanted to protect the families of deceased soldiers he wouldn't send their sons and daughters to fight and die in a meaningless war.

I just read about this over at CNN. This administration is such garbage. Bush can make fun of looking for WMDs, but yet doesn't want the pictures of the the dead bodies of the soldiers who dying for "his" war to be seen. Bush is a F'in scumbag.

I was totally going to post somthing like your post after reading this.
Molino said the policy, in effect since 1991, was crafted with input from families to protect the privacy and dignity of the deceased.
How is it protecting the families privacy and dignity. No one knows whos involved.. The administration is just covering their ass from more reasons the war is a waste.

These pictures should be posted at gas stations everywhere.

who cares how its represented, everyone Should be outraged at the trivialization and politization of these soldiers deaths. You know that the left is only going to use this spectacle to try and harm Bush.

RIP my fellow Americans.

RIP my fellow Americans.

This wouldnt even be an issue if Bush hadnt started this useless 'war' and killed your fellow 'Americans'.

I think everyone should see this. This is part of war. Deal with it.

In those coffins are the remains of Americans who gave their lives in order to prosecute the US government's agenda. The photos ought to be published to not only allow all of America to witness the reality of war and the resulting bravery of those military folks no longer among us but, also to put pressure on the government to limit the arrivals of so sad but, honorable a sight.
The folks entrusted with the authority to engage in warfare activities don't want Americans to see the arrivals of American dead for the right reasons. I don't care what they spin it to be. They don't want to lose the current support for the current agenda.
The solemn movement of coffins to their final resting place is the final honor bestowed on the hero therein. We should be forced to witness this and give thanks for their effort.

IMO, that is!

Are you sure about that?

Nope! I just assume that a box (boxes) that is (are) termed a 'coffin(s)' arriving from the war zone (assumed) and having a flag draped over it or them is indicative of a service man or men KIA. I assume the truth of the matter as has been reported (in this case) and therefore, all comments made by me are made with that in mind.

I edit to add: A service man always is in the process of prosecuting the agenda of the US Government, what ever that may be, even if asleep in Denver.
