Boo to the crappy units that my computers seem to be magnets for! My ppd just keeps taking a dive, and I will have the laptop out of folding for a couple days which isn't going to help.

Yeah that is normal.

A 25 point WU should not lower your PPD versus a 200 point WU. They are benchmarked the same way on the same computer.

BUT, low point WUs are not bonus WUs. So that means you are not crunching the bonus WUs, which will hurt PPD if you had been getting them before.

The availability of most bonus WUs changes from week to week (sometimes day to day).

If you were getting bonus WUs before you have it set up right, there just aren't as many of them right now.

To get bonus WUs set the client to "Yes" for "greater than 5 MB download".

Sometimes it helps to have the "-advmethods" flag in the startup shortcut. Yesterday it did not help. Six months ago it did.

The exception is P4 and Xeon CPUs. If you have > 496MB ram and want to run QMD bonus WUs you must use the -advmethods flag and "greater than 5 MB download".

Not many people do these and there are lots of them so you can always get them. They are a very stable experimental WU that uses lots of ram and most of the memory bandwidth. Stanford recommends them only for dedicated F@H computers, but I run them on my rigs.
