Thanks, GLeeM, for da stats!

Welcome aboard, +kNight!!!

23 ___ 104 ___ 1,366 ____ TurtleBlue

Glad the x1950PRO I installed in the beginning of the month is finally producing for da TeAm and making a small contribution to our efforts. Will try to get it to o/c more without the F@H GPU program ending early so as to get the segment times down to 6 minutes from the current 8:30 minutes per segment.

PS, Congrats to the MM's

Well, I'm back from Quakecon and it was a blast. Back to work now and got all my boxen folding again. Got a 6420@3.2Ghz now and a Q6600@3.0Ghz along with whatever my Pentium M 1.7Ghz laptop can push out.

Just a tad over 20Ghz worth of processing power folding for the team :Q!

Thanks as always for the stats GLeeM.

Congrats to the MM's and a big welcome to +kNight!

Thanks for the stats GLeeM!

I find it amazing the dif in PPD with the SMP client.
Yesterday my fleet turned in 6 WU's for 27xx points. 1 from my new box (SMP) for 17xx and 5 from other boxes for 10xx.

Also....I was kinda surprised when I started the smp client up again today and it didn't reject the current work and download another unit.

Last night I overclocked this box a little bit. (2.0 -> 2.66 ghz) I didn't want to spend much time on it right now and just upped the FSB. Realistically I don't expect much more until I get a video card instead of using onboard graphics.

Well, after 14.5 hrs of Orthos, I started the SMP client again and it used the checkpoint and continued!

I think it is since I am using the -forceasm flag.
Also it is running as a service with no problems.

Woohoo! I'm climbing the ladder. Welcome to the team +knight!!!

I'll try asking this again as I didn't get a reply before. How do you guys manage how long you let a PS3 fold? I'm a little worried about leaving it on overnight every night.

@xbassman
The SMP client (or core?) has built in -forceasm. I is supposed to always use full optimizations!

@KillyKillall
I have run my PS3 24/7 for several months now with no problems yet!

It is on a piece of plywood on the floor. It keeps getting covered with dust and cat and dog hair. I just wipe it off or puff at it to get some of it off.

Where and how should I use canned air on it to get some of the internal dust/hair out?

I love my new Q6600 rig...along with my newly ordered iMac 2.8GHz and a pair of PS3's coming soon, I'm going to be folding hardcore.

Hey GLeem...I added the -forceasm flag after reading a post recommending it.
When I restarted today it was the first time it didn't trash the work done and start a new WU.
I am not really sure if -forceasm has to do with it, but it hasn't caused any problems.

I was under the impression that the SMP client had the -advmethods on as default and not -forceasm. I use the -forceasm in my command line and I'm almost certain with it there, there is an additional comment in the client window when I first start up the SMP client (its towards the bottom of the inital stuff that it spews out, but before the WU's start crunchin) that is something along the lines of "assembly optimizations forced on," and it's not there if I don't use -forceasm. I'm not home to check it now, so just tossin my $.02 in.

Yup, you can still add the -forceasm flag and it will show in the log, but for the SMP client, if you do not shut down properly it will say that it was not shut down properly and then it will proceed to use optimizations anyway.

As to the -advmethods flag - I don't think it will make a difference yet and I don't remember seeing anything about it being automatically applied. Maybe you are thinking - downloads > 5 MB.
