We really like firedfly. We follow him everywhere just trying to get his autograph.

Maybe we could suggest making it a 3 way battle next year? Collectively though, were all together doing more work than ever. That's what's fun for me. Hopefully, this helps the cause. My power meters spinning a double the rate it normally does.

Or you were just trying to promote your own competition that happens later in the year.

What would have been the right thing to do is have ExtremeHW join the competition as their own team from the beginning to promote your competition or whatever it is instead of ruining this one.

That's because we didn't know the ExtremeHW team was going to join [H] for the competition.

There are three people from ExtremeHW contributing that I'm aware of: BWG, Bastiaan_NL and myself. I used to fold for [H]. I saw the competition posted on their forums a few weeks ago and decided to help out. I mentioned to BWG and Bastiaan_NL that I'd be folding in the competition and my points would be down for a week. They both decided to lend a hand (I think as a thank you for the help I've done with the ExtremeHW team since I joined last year). No one from [H] actively recruited us.

Based on the last stats I looked at, you could remove the points the three of us are contributing and [H] would still be quite a bit ahead of the entire TAAT team (not just the registered racers). I agree that this year isn't competitive. However, it isn't only because three active members from ExtremeHW are contributing to [H].

I added 3 2080 Supers and 3 2080's to my small farm right before the competition. I had access to 6 more (now only 4 more) 2080's if needed. These all joined my 750Ti in this competition this year that I normally didn't have. I only run them at 60% power. I know others have added to their hosts this year too. And to be fair, it was discussed at the beginning of the event via chat and DM to remove the handicap and was decided not to make changes after the event started as it was feared people would take issue with changing the rules after the event started. Nobody has done anything out of ill will in this event to my knowledge. As @firedfly stated, we would have had the muscle even without the contributions from ExtremeHW. This was just a good year for us getting people on board with the event.

I think you're missing the real point though. I would have been mining this week if it were not for this event, and all of that research benefits the project. Our event isn't even really that important. I mentioned our monthly live event because I've been trying to get 3 people from [H] to join so the OCN team could duke it out with them like old times. This event is not ruined. Collectively, the teams are achieving more than anyone could have dreamed possible, I believe. Keep it up guys! I don't know the metrics from prior years, but are you at least on pace to beat those prior achievements? Firedfly is right, it's only 3 of us. If you want to add a metric removing us from the points to compare, that might be nice to see.

I'm pretty proud of you guys myself. The # of participants you have is really large, and it deserves something better than this.

In our private discussion everyone expressed interest in not increasing their production because there is no point with a 2-3x multiplier difference. However, ~150M PPD a day in itself is a lot to over come, but not impossible, but ~300M PPD isn't even worth trying.

Sure [H] has some heat this year even without ExtremeHW helping, but it would have been much closer if TAAT ramped up their production. Keep in mind that TAAT purposely held back to keep the event close, as has been done in the years past.

As for changing the rules/conditions, before or even during the race. Who made that decision, in private? In 2018 (Might have been 2019) TAAT was waxing the floor with what [H] could muster up and in the middle of the event they split themselves up into a team of two, so we had a 3-team battle where [H] ultimately ended up winning that year. So suddenly changes mid competition are frowned upon?

Also let's not forget how much [H] and TAAT hated a certain group of individuals from different teams in BOINC who teamed up during a certain event year after year until neither [H] and TAAT don't partake in it anymore. While it wasn't the sole reason, it was definitely on the list.

TAAT has gone through great lengths each year of this competition to keep it close and competitive. What happened?

You bought RFGuys GPUs who would be in the race anyway if he still owned them himself. Just like he was last year.

@pututu sent me a PM asking me if it was ok to change the rules to include ALL members of TAAT in the stats. I said no because I didn't think it was right for me to change the rules in the middle of the race.

Here's the last stats I have.

The ExtremeHW guys have contributed ~273 429 M points. @pututu , is that right?

Even if we include all TAAT members, legitimate [H] guys would still be kicking our butts.

Actually, he wouldn't as he is retiring from the majority of DC... Not to mention, I don't believe he has ever partook in [H]'s FAH activities. I could be wrong but do not recall him joining us.

I updated our team users stat. In total firedfly, bwg and bastiaan_NL from EHW contributed a total of 429,096,750 points thus far. Our biggest contributor Jad_sac has always been with [H] team

Wow, a lot of discussion today. I, personally, still find this race entertaining (although the issues with the stats really take a lot of the fun away). I'm hoping that most will continue to fold until the race is over, before switching back to their usual projects. I'll do. I even refilled my loop just to bring my rig back online for the race although my office is currently a "construction site" So, I'll enjoy this race till the very end. And even an almost certain defeat like that can be funny- as we're competing with friends How can a friend's victory not be a good thing?

Last year he did and he stopped about 2 days before the end. Has he continued with his PPD rate [H] would have won.

From what I can find here, in 2020 and 2021 challenge, [H] lost to TAAT (those who signed up) both times according to the final stat published by @biodoc at the end of the race.

I couldn't find anything showing in partaking. Can you give me his FAH name for stats? I know he has been pretty bullish on being a BOINC user for the most part.

Apropos the previous bigadv EOL races:
2020: xii5ku -- 0 points (I took a time off from DC then, IIRC)
2021: xii5ku -- 144 M points (CPU WUs were not counted due to another F@H infrastructure problem)
2022: xii5ku -- ??? M points (will stats come back?)

I'm referring to this FAH BigAdv challenge to "commemorate" the ending of BigAdv on Jan 31st .

Yeah we all hate that decision

Don't remember his exact name.

Thanks. I will reach out to him and find it.

Edit: Luckily Slack has some info still listed that wasn't deleted. I think he tried supporting it in 2019 but had a lot of trouble with it. And I see some comments about still not having a lot of luck in 2020 after the event. I'm still waiting on his user name so I can reference some things.

Thanks. Not sure why that didn't come up when I searched it. I tried multiple variants of his name. Looks like he did roughly 30 million points during the event. That would have been from just his primary desktop which is Windows. He couldn't figure out getting it to work on Linux. (per the slack channel historical posts) So, unless he attempted a 3rd year at getting Linux to work, he probably would not have brought all those cards. I was hoping to see what his numbers looked like with all of them going to get some kind of a baseline. I am guessing that if he stopped the event early, it was because of the PG challenges as he really liked hitting those. I know the Tour de' Primes is a concern for the timing of this event.

Looking over the points stats from EOC shows 1.5 million in February. So, not sure when he stopped. I don't see any communications inferring it just yet. Digging deaper.

Hey watch the trash talking!
I was thinking of pulling a couple cards out to work on other things. All I needed was one person to say they were staying in, to stay all in for the duration.
Interesting that I’m running the same 4 cards I ran in early in January at the EVGA Time Zone Challenge, and getting an extra 1.5-2 million more ppd here. Go figure!

You seeing a better mix of units? Probably would be why, or it could be some core/driver optimizations. Keep on truckin!
