I am currently doing the Genome@home project from the same place. I have chosen to run this client as it is actually doing something useful with the data. The Genome WU is enough to last a machine 1-2 days, so the servers shouldn't get a hard time.

Sharpstick, yes there is, check Chipster22's post.

Anyway, I'm currently running the GENOME@HOME client on two of my computers. So far for Team Anandtech (Genome@home) is at 33, we recently moved up from 34 beating The Forum Place.

I just checked the Team Statistics, and I can't seem to find the ranking of Team Anandtech there (Folding@home). What are you guys currently ranked?

Come on you guys! Start FOLDING!! I personally am on Team HardOCP but we are totally DOMINATING Folding@Home and we need some good competition! I personally think this is the best project, its doing good for humanity instead of trying to crack some code or searching for aliens. Here are a few links for you guys..

Stats Page (Run by someone from DSL Reports Team Helix)
http://www.thecompguy.net/foldingstats/index.stm

Electron Microscope (A new monitoring program made by LPerry over at HardOCP, the BEST program out there for Folding@home)

HardOCP Folding@Home Forum (Tons of info on Folding@Home)
http://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=32

Currently your team has no active members... I would LOVE to see you guys give us at Team HardOCP some competition, we just started up a few weeks ago... like 4 or 5.

If you want to join Team AnandTech then you would make your user name like this.... Dulanic (Team AnandTech)
Thats ONE space between your name and the team HAS to be in ()... so make sure its exactly like shown with your own user name of corse.

Yeah, well when we find those aliens, and they happen to be both benign AND have a cure for cancer, then we'll see where you are!

I just started participating in folding@home and I'm currently with Arstechnica Team Eggroll since there didn't seem to be much effort coming from Team Anandtech, which I found surprising.

Those HardOCP guys on the other hand are a crazy bunch

Just a reminder that the team name you give is case sensative.

Checking this page All Team Statsshows that there are at least four teams started in the name of Team AnandTech with variations in the name.

The original and top AnandTech team uses the following syntax:

username (Team AnandTech)

Take special note of the capital 'T' in AnandTech.

Our top team is ranked #272 out of 855 as of this writing.

Maybe I'll try it again. I wish it was more friendly to modem users by allowing multiple unit downloads.

I wonder if there is anybody that could be contacted to get these different "anand" names consolidated?

I wonder if there is anybody that could be contacted to get these different "anand" names consolidated?

Unfortunately, they instituted a policy early on about not combining screwed up/duplicate accounts...

However, they ARE about to begin to migrate to the stats system that is in use for Genome@Home, which should allow someone to join a team rather than have to explicitly and correctly name their account so that it gets sorted with the team.

Running the folding@home on Linux and Win2k currently. can also run the command line in windows if ya like.

Less glam for sure, but seems to be worthwhile. I like that they don't have a closed source client. UD

I just found out i wasted a bunch of work, that didn't go to Team AnandTech. If you want to run on more than one rig you have to number each one, #1, #2, #3, etc directly after the name, no space. If you want it to apply to a team you have to put the team name in ( ) one space after the name. The only catch is it ignores everything after the #, so you have to put username (Team Nane)#1 etc. you do NOT put
Username#1 (Team Name)

Wasted Units (not for AnandTech)

Stanman - with the 1.3x clients, you don't have to do the "#<number>" anymore! It's a shame that they haven't updated the FAQ about that.

I think what may have happened to you was that you copied the same client.cfg file to every machine. If you do that, you'll need to edit each one and on the line "userid=", you need to make that line: "userid=0". Then when you start the client, it'll go get a unique id for that machine and you'll be all set.

This is because each machine/instance must have a unique user id, otherwise, they'll all get the same WU and whichever machine uploads the result first, it will credit and the others won't.

Also, you don't have to put a space between your name and the "(team)". However, alot of people do that to make sure that they don't accidently add extra spaces that they can't see, in their account names.

F@H is getting ready to implement the same kind of stats/team joining that Genome@Home has, so all of this will be moot soon!

Hope this helps!

<< F@H is getting ready to implement the same kind of stats/team joining that Genome@Home has, so all of this will be moot soon! >>

Does this mean F@H and G@H WUs will be counted together, in combined stats? That would be really neat!

That must be what they are describing here

If you're not behind a firewall there is no problem, right? For instance can 2 machines using the same dial-up ISP account have the same account name with Folding@Home?

I've also wondered why the team total is higher than the sum of the individuals on the team

We are up to 212th BTW.

Oops, I see that Poof already answered earlier, stating that the FAQ was out of date about multiple machines behind firewalls.

I have a linksys router i don't know if that changes anything or not, do they consider that a firewall or not?

Stanman - unless you have ports blocked on your Linksys (which I doubt... ), then no, it's not considered a firewall.

And no, they're not gonna combine stats G@H with F@H , just make the F@H stats be more like G@H's - giving you the option to actually create a user account (and use that for each machine) and join a team.

Part of the reason why team totals don't equal individual totals is because you might have a bunch of people who folded or genomed alone, and then joined a team. When you do that, your stats don't follow you and start all over for the team (that applies if you change teams too!).
