Ok, I have learned that you really must press F6 and load the Asus SATA drivers as I was told, and as to the drives I have, I learned you must also update the firmware on the drives. This was a first for me. Not any fun!! I still have only 1 drive accepting SP2 without causing boot errors, and it took 2 try's to do it. So much for Raid 0.
If I ever get this monster up and running properly, I will never buy Maxtors again!
I have it OC'd running under AIBoost at 2.6 GB. I'm running Burnmax on it now, and getting a CPU temp of 54C. Both CPU's are running flat out.
Is this too hot? been running like this for several hours, with a room temp of ahout 82 F.
Wer'e having a warmspell here in SC

I realise this forum is about motherboards, but I am trying to start up my new system, and my question is this; Has anyone else had issues with Maxtor SATA drives? I finally got smart enough to realise I had to press F6 and load the Silicon Image SATA drivers off the asus CD. DUH!! I hope I picked the right one! But I still have my problem. WinXP Pro loads and reboots ok. I have tried loading 4 in 1 drivers next. Then I load SP2. If SP2 does load, and sometimes it doesn't, then after loading my 4 in 1 drivers, some thing still goes wrong. This time it's my network wont work. Most times I get a boot error after loadind SP2 . It's always something. I have recently started up 2 systems using WD Raptors without any problems at all. What gives?
I have what looks to be 2 bad maxtor drives. Is this possible? Both are brand new just out of the box.
This is the first time I've ever had a problem with Mator drives, used them for years! But never SATA drives!
I should mention that the drives in question are 200 GB SATA drives, mod. #6L200SO. And yes I ran the Maxblast diags, no errors, so the drives are not bad?
After loading WinXP Pro numerous times on both drives I've concluded the drivers have a definite problem or something.
BTW, I have used SATA port 1 on all installs, Including the Raptors.
