Fonts suddenly change in Word

A friend and I have the same problem with MS Word (I'm using 97 and she's using 2000). Sometimes when cutting and pasting the pasted text changes font and formatting. Does anyone else have this problem? I Googled a bit but found nothing for anything before Word 2002.

Edit -> Paste Special -> Unformatted Text

According to Text you can setup a macro in word 2000 and up so ctrl+v pastes unformatted. I've never bothered with it though, used to the annoyance I guess.

I do this all the time (even in Office 2007) and wished that I could do something like CTRL+SHIFT+v to do this as unformatted text. I'll have to see if I can use that macro to make it work - thx for the link!
