Essentially anything made with wheat, rye, barley, or oats. It sucks.

Allergy or an issue with gluten?
celiac disease. it makes social dining difficult.

That's what I figured. One of my employees suffers from the same.

lactose intolerance - i endure the discomfort and gas (arguably people around me endure the gas more than i do)
soy - i avoid it
some shellfish - i endure the hives

outside of the big 8 i am allergic to many pulpy fruit like apples, pears, plums, etc like another poster. i just avoid them.

i don't suffer from any.

many of them may be caused by the mother smoking while pregnant. there are many out there who believe that drinking milk after you no longer need your mother's milk causes many food allergies, too. personally, i have no real opinion on it. i certainly wouldn't tell anyone NOT to drink milk because they MIGHT develop a series of food allergies. it'd be like telling someone NOT to vaccinate their child because they MIGHT develop autism or NOT to drive a car because it MIGHT crash.

No food allegies of any kind, but I am allergic to bee stings (or was as I grew up, I appear to have outgrown it), codeine and hydrocodone.

Major food allergies are Darwin's way of trying to weed out the weak and undeserving.

a friend of my wifes has bad food allegies. she is pretty much alergic to everything. She has to order special food and its bland and nasty. i really feel for her.

i am glad i do not have one. it would suck since i enjoy food. a well cooked dinner is a joy.

Nope but both of my kids are allergic to peanuts.

My wife has started an allergy free bakery because of all the kids who have allergy these days. It's hard for them and their parents to find or make birthday cakes.

I get totally whacked out whenever I eat Chinese food. Don't know if it's allergic or intolerant reaction, but oh boy! I feel like I am stoned out of my freaking mind. Dry eyes, dry throat, drowsy as hell, hearing all muffled and jumbled. It gets bad enough that I cannot drive whenever I eat out with the family. I endure it usually by ordering take-out instead. I love Chinese food and suffer the consequences accordingly.

Peace

But it seems to me that more and more kids these days have peanut allergies, i wonder if it has a direct correlation to a lot more kids these days are fatties?

Actually there is a lot of data showing that it is because of lacking routine exposure to pathogens as a kid. Same with Asthma and other hypersensitivities. Lesson for the day, let your kids play in the mud.

Does it happen when you eat Long John Silvers? I only ask because both Chinese takeout and LJS are notorious for having huge amounts of MSG. It sounds like sensitivity to MSG, IMO, but I'm not a doctor yet so don't take my word for it.

The statistic folk can't agree if there is a trend towards more people having allergies to foods or not. As a Chef with 35+ years of experience, I can say unequivocally, there are more food based allergies now than even 20 years ago. I link the growth of processed foods, lack of variety and, people caring less about where their food comes from. This is NOT simply a matter of being more aware of allergies and personal health. Our food 'environment' is straining even homo sapiens ability to adapt. Unless folks start caring about food, as opposed to eating, the increase in health problems and obesity will continue and increase

Da Chef has spoken!,
So, let it be written. So, let it be done.

That is really stupid. My son was diagnosed with those allergies when he was less than 1 yr old. Actually milk allergy was diagnosed when he as 2 weeks old.

actually he is right. of course though its not 100% true for every kid.

there have been a few studies that have shown kids are flooded with hand sanitizers and wipes etc. that kids are not building up as strong a immunization system as your grandparents did.
