mayo in sandwiches is gross, but I'll eat it if I paid for it.
If I made a sandwich at home, I'd never even think about putting mayo in it. It adds nothing.

False. Mayo adds a critical layer of "sealant (AKA fat)" to the inside of your bread to prevent water penetration and needless bread sogginess. Thus, either a thin layer of mayo or butter is an improvement to virtually any sandwich.

Ehh, been eating thai, indian, pho, etc since I was a teenager. I'm in my 30s now. The only "new to me" foods I have experienced over the last 5 or so years has been Puerto Rican food. It had a lot in common with some of the Jamaican dishes I'd had before, but, some things are totally different.

Anyhow,

Puerto Rican food is awesome.

Agreed. I hate I can't order it on menus now. Whenever I go to Vegas, I make it a point to get it. I also order it online.

Foie gras is one of the few foods I got introduced to pretty late in life. I'm hoping the ban gets overturned like what happened in Chicago.

Got a recommendation for a good place to order it online?

Poutine. In fact with the exception of a few Gastropubs I frequent I don't really see it being served around here.

I put up with a lot of California's crap but for some reason the foie gras ban is the think that pushes me over the edge into "Oh COME on!"

Same. My trip to Vegas next month can't get here soon enough.

Indian food.

This,

and Pho.

though, with Indian food, I am just convinced that all of my earlier exposures were just bad Indian food from shitty buffet/take out joints.

It's very different living in Berkeley, though. I am mortally addicted to Pho, though.

Foie gras is delicious. I just got back from 10 days in France and couldn't eat it enough.

that's one of those things that just never worked for me--and it certainly isn't for lack of exposure--spending ample time in Switzerland, with locals...who also live in Burgundy and have access (and provided), to what is basically some of the best foie gras, beef, lamb...whatever you can find in the country--I just couldnt' get into foie gras.

At this time (~22 years old), I finally learned to get into all types of olives, malt whiskey, snails to a degree, all types of cheeses, etc....but foie gras just never worked out. :\

Crabs....crabs....CRABS!!!! Didn't try 'em till 5-6yrs ago and now I'm addicted!, problem is I'm currently unemployed and collecting the whopping maximum of $275/wk that FL allows I can't justify buying crabs since they are expensive considering a lot of what you buy can't be eaten (shells).. :|

Dude, you're in Florida. Go out and catch it yourself for free! Couple of crab traps and you can eat fresh blue crabs everyday.

Great idea, and blue crabs are good too but what usually happens is someone steals your traps, had this happen to a few friends of mine, F-ing scumbags are everywhere...

Don't even need that. A chicken neck on a string will get enough crabs for a small family.

I don't leave my trap. I use the type you pull up by a string. I drop two traps on opposite side of a bridge and sit in a chair and drink beer and read. I pull up the trap every 5 minutes or so and there's usually 2-4 crabs in the pot. I usually catch a bucket full in an hour or two. The area I go I can catch crabs, mussels, scallops, clams, conchs, oysters, and fish. All for free. The only thing I pay for are shrimps when I'm down there. I haven't learned how or where to catch it yet.
