I noticed that no one's yet presented a sound argument against anything I've said. Just a bunch of angry Americans getting their panties in a bunch and slinging unintelligent insults funded by their bottom-of-the-barrel public school education.
If someone actually gave a "sound argument" would you actually listen?
Football is a lot of different things to a lot of different people. It's one thing to be a sterotypical, drunk obnoxious fan and just cheering wildly when your team "does something good".
It's another thing entirely to appreciate the strategy (or question it) in playcalling, the way a QB can read a defense, how well a team executed a play or how well a defender covered a receiver.
When it comes to pure excitement there certainly is an emotional reaction when a WR gets lit up by a defender that timed his hit well. There's an emotional roller coaster when a back breaks the line, gets through the secondary and is making a 40 yard dash to the end zone only to get caught and pulled down at the 2 yard line. Then you watch that team get stuffed the next three plays and settle for a field goal.
Then there is the whole nail biting aspect of the game when you have a team you are cheering for up or down by a score with a minute left and they either have to march down the field and get a touchdown or execute well on defense and prevent the other team from scoring.
If you have no emotional investment in cheering for a team (or cheering against a team) or if you don't really understand the nuances and strategy invovled in it then I can understand not liking it. It's a very rule heavy game that does have a large number of interruptions.
But to call it "boring" would be disengenuous. It is a highly physcial game, with athletes that make spectacular physcial accomplishments and many decisions early in the game can greatly impact the outcome later on.
