Football is a boring sport

I can see why people like watching it, but it's an extremely boring sport to play if you're not QB, running back, or wide receiver.

I liked playing as a defensive lineman. I tried to maul the QB or RB every down, and pushing my way through to do it was fun. IMO being a receiver would suck because you run your ass off every play to get open, and only get thrown to 1/3 of the time if the team is even. So most of the game you're just sprinting to be disappointed. QB on a run heavy team would be boring too... just hand it off to the RB.

I think you misunderstand the sport.

You're not supposed to watch it; it's meant to be used as background noise at bars and social gatherings.

Isn't DL just as frustrating? Bust your ass to get past the OL and the QB throws it away right before you get to him.

It can be, but it's not like we're talking about good QBs here. Most high school QBs panic easy and can't throw on the run, so usually they'll waste a down which still feels good.

I think it is far more frustrating when a gap opens and you get into the backfield, only to find the RB ran a sweep away from you. =(

Defense (any position really) is a lot more fun IMO, because you get to put the hits on people. You aren't the one getting them. I loved playing safety in high school. It was great, there weren't any real passing teams, and the QBs weren't throwing down field very far anyway.
