something to keep an eye on - maybe

On three shiny floors of a former fish factory is CCP, a company best known in computer gaming for Eve Online, which has 300,000 participants all over the world - as many inhabitants as Iceland itself. However, restrictions on access to foreign currency for individuals and businesses and on foreign investment into Iceland are making life difficult. "To make new games, we need foreign investors," says Eyjolfur Gudmundsson, formerly an assistant professor at the University of Akureyri, who supervises Eve's virtual economy. "The present currency restrictions are putting us in a straitjacket. We are in talks with the government, but if we can't let capital in, we might be compelled to leave Iceland, even though this would be against our wishes."

At least CCP still generates income.

Yeah, our government sucks at handling the economic crysis.

Bad policies and what most would call corruption.

Bahh I hate them.

Not a problem. If they leave Ice and relocate somewhere else it won't really effect the game or the servers.

It might drastically affect the game. If they move out and gain access to foreign investors and currency, their company might become much more successful and then they might become extra greedy. This could result in them taking away one of the very few things that are still left that make EVE so unique. They already removed ghost training and 30day TCs... The only reason why they introduced the 30day PLEX is because they are trying to appeal to those customers that they have left. (many people quit after ghost training and 30 day cards were removed) If however CCP becomes more successful and the customers pour in, the game might become better as a whole, but they'll probably remove whatever conveniences we still have left. Hell, even trial accounts will probably be removed eventually, or people will have to use a credit card to make trials. Also, because CCP is a relatively smallish Icelandic company, they strive hard to make their customers happy and they work hard... But if they move to say... America, they could become too "Americanized"... if you know what I mean...

Stop being a alarmist. You are so wrong in regards to the "Ghost training". It was not a feature it was bug that they did not get around to fixing until recently. CCP never intended to allow "Ghost Training" when they launched EVE and never did they promote it as a "Feature". When EVE launched CCP had a lot of work on their plate and fixing this issue was low on the list of bugs until recently. The 30 day GTC's might actually return if they become more successful and there is a great demand for them by new customers. Moving to a 60 day GTC's was done to increase profits.

Then why did they advertise it in the players guide? That skills trained even when accounts were inactive. I didn't know developers liked to advertise bugs. And also, CCP most likely lost money by doing this as many people canceled their alts because they realized the cost of supporting an alt would outweigh the benefits of having one.

Not much can make their servers much worse. I always thought that they should have put more money into their server backbone instead of just collecting fees off players and then throwing lavish "fests" and such. Back when I used to play a lot, during huge fleet battles the server nodes would die routinely. Now I hear that if you are planning on waging a large scale fleet battle they want you to tell them so they can "compensate" the load on different servers. Haha, why not just tell BOB that you're coming?

Wow you do realize that they just upgraded there server backend right? In fact there have been more then a few 1,000 ship fleet battles. Of course you have to notify CCP before hand so that they can reinforce the node but 1,000 ship fleet battles have been happening. Then again which MMO has 30,000+ players all logged in on one virtual game universe at the same time with fleet battles, ratters, mission runners, etc all doing their thing and still have a playable game? Not many I can tell you.

That's because CCP outsourced the work of creating a career guide for their website to a 3rd party. The folks who wrote the career guide never realized or knew it was in fact a bug. Read the link below to get better grasp on the truth on the matter.
