The election has taught me that this country is NOT the land of freedom for all, or a land of equality.

As I watch the ban on Gay marriage pass in many states, and as I watch those who would choose to remove the rights of women to choose, I realize:

America is for Christians, by Christians. Everyone else just takes a back seat.

Religion can always be tested...

Things like unemployment, rising health care costs, losing a son or daughter overseas or at home...

Can no one be against gay marriage who is not a Christian?

I resent that as a christian. Jesus never turned people away for being different. In fact, he welcomed them into his church. So why do all those holier-than-thou southern christians seem to believe otherwise?

Any christians troubled by all this hate, check out the United Church of Christ

Which is not supposed to be how this country works. It should be majority rules with minority protection, last time I checked at least.

The majority of America have rejected the true values of Chrisitanity.

American Chrisitanity has become soiled like much of Islam, by fundamentalism.

No one is stopping men from having relationships with each other. You also forget about the rights of innocent children when you talk about rights of women. No need to blame it on Christianity just because you hate Jesus.

Though I am not a Christian I find that link very refreshing, and even moreso since I found out the church 3 blocks away from here is UCC

Jesus was cool, it's his followers whom we need to be protected from.

Our only hope is the Supreme Court to apply the constitution to these fanatics... of course a couple more conservative judges and we will be under the boot of the mammonists...

As a christian, I feel that if you put no limitations on anything, then the country would be much worse off than it already is with drug addiction, killing, stealing, as well as other things.

Along with the things listed above, I believe there is something wrong, in terms of morals, with abortion and gay marriage. This is the land of the free in terms of if the country felt, as a whole, the way you did... things would be headed in the opposite direction.

It just so happens, the country still holds Christian values. It was proven in this election.

Until the relationship between 2 people is given equal rights regardless of gender, then YES the ability for gay people to "relate" to one another is being stopped in certain areas.

This is much bigger than whether or not gay people can be in relationships, it is about Civil Rights that they should not be denied simply because they are the same sex as their partner.

Oh, and about the rights of innocent children; until you , or science, can prove that an unborn baby is a fully developed human, then the right of choice MUST remain in the hands of G-D's chosen womb: the woman.

I don't get it? If it is so 'obvious' that banning gay marriage and abortions is 'wrong,' then why are they passing? I really love the "OMG! Everyone who disagrees with my opinions is a moron and totally wrong" attitude some of you guys have. I'm a Christian. I'm against abortion. But I am for same-sex marriage. Do you have a nice little pre-fabbed category to shove me in as well?

Cool! I'm not a hardcore christian (even lean atheist most of the time), but I really do like and support what UCC is about.

I believe of the people who claim a religion, that Christianity is first.

Your OP seemed to imply (to me, anyway) that Christians are responsible for the results of the gay marriage proposals. I was just asking if you believed that Christians were the only people voting against gay marriage, and if it was possible that non-religious or non-Christians people might also have been opposed.

Around %75 of the US citizens define themselves as christians. When you break it down, %20 of those Christians are Catholic and the rest are spread out among Protestant groups like Evangelicals and Baptists.

This thread is concerning majorities, and obviously you as well as MANY MANY others will be exceptions to the rule.
