We will continue to improve our products as such to offer superior performance in Adobe's gaussian blur test and spell checking in Microsoft Word. Apparently an employee in our dept has played a cruel joke on the public by enlisting John Carmack as an imaging consultant. We apologize for any confusion his presence has made.

Was it just a Matrox fan who signed up only to renovate the faith in Matrox or just a joke?

Anyway, Matrox cards are truly for professional use only. I can't imagine having bought one. Even the G550 nowadays still cost as much as GF4, if I had to choose between the two it would be an easy choice . And I don't care for the 2D quality anymore since I got an LCD. I think I could even use the worst of the worst 2D card with DVI the result would be exactly the same as with Matrox. Thus, superior 2D is quickly ceasing to be a major sales point as it was a few years ago.
