I don't understand the hate against Iranian people. I can understand hate towards Iranian (the country's not the people's) foreign policy, but not the hate towards Iranians and Persians in general.

Maybe it is different over here in Canada, but it's not a big deal. Iranians are some of the smartest I know. The majority of our Engineering Profs in our Universities are of Iranian background. They seem to be heavily into research, and I think they came to NA simply because they don't do their research in Iran due to lack of funding or whatever.

somehow, our legislators felt like 18 year old kids drafted by the iranian government are all rabid, twisted-minded, brainwashed, america hating jihadist...

they're drafted into service... and it's national service... not international kill missions or anything. it's like the frigging national guard and reserves.

the reason for all this hate against iran is ignorance, plain and simple.

Just because some people think Iranian citizens are teh devilz, that doesn't defeat the facts mentioned above. Every crazy country is going to be pounded on with hate. Most importantly, however, is that every country - regardless of status, will be hated by someone somewhere for no reason whatsoever.

Even if USA did not provide Chemicals Weapon to Saddam, it was in their knowledge that European Countries did. Where was the public outcry against the sell of WMD to Iraq (in 1980ies), where were the human right activists ? Why were you silent ? Where were the sanctions against Germany and France ? These two countries did produce and sell chemical weapons, did you impose trade sanctions against them ? Yet Bush administration's main excuse to invade Iraq was "They possesed and produced WMD" (which were never found) When will this hypocrisy end ?

In terms of the current occupation of Iraq which has turned into a totally bungled quagmire,
GWB&co. was able to rush in where angels fear to thread because no entity of an consequence gave GWB&co. a firm no. Thankfully, at least Russia is no giving a firm no to any preemptive Iranian bombing. And if the USA consults the UN, its going to get a similar firm no. After all, there is a price to pay for being the little boy who cried wolf and that price is compounded when there is no clear evidence GWB&co diplomacy has learned anything in the process.

Having said that, our Naval assets are already in place and under a doctrine of might makes right, GWB&co. are idiotic enough to actually attempt the experiment. But hopefully GWB&co. are mindful of the numerous red lights and entities of consequence that will react very negatively to such a sneak attack even more dastardly than the Pearl Harbor attack.

And if nothing else, any preemptive Iranian attack will very likely result in the total blockading of the Persian gulf which will trigger a world wide economic depression.

Iran has done?

We gave the Iranians weapons to fight back. They were offered chemical weapons just like Iraq was, they just refused to accept them because they didn't want to use them in the war. As a result, they got roflpwned. We wanted both sides to lose, instead, the Iranians took the moral high ground and lost a million citizens. They've since realized the error of their ways, and are seeking nuclear weapons to take their revenge on the world.

The difference between me and the people like you is that you would rather turn a blind eye to radical Islam, whose followers are trying to spread their religion and Sharia law by the sword (suicide bomb, suicide airplane, etc.), whereas I would rather stand up and fight them now, rather than have to convert to their primitive & oppressive type of life later.
