I received mine yesterday and don't have a drive for it yet, but booted it up to the bios and it is indeed a newcastle running at 2.2 GHz with 512KB cache. My drive comes tomorrow, so I can install it and bench against my 3.0C and 2.53 P4's with some divx and xvid benches.

So, it is a Newcastle, mild bummer, but no complaints here. Guess i have to bench it against my 1.7 Willy, if its slower then i'll complain..

EDIT: ok, COMPLETELY off topic, what happened to the "My Anandtech" Rigs page login? It hates me.

I got that same question wrong...amd's site lists every feature except the PowerNow! tech...might be a glich in their quiz?

That's the point, powernow is amd's old technology similar to intels speed stepping, therefore it is not a benefit or a feature of amd64.


I think I misread your posts, you guys mean that on that question you didn't have the option of choosing "power now"?

I got that same question wrong...amd's site lists every feature except the PowerNow! tech...might be a glich in their quiz?

I've called 4 different numbers till I got fed-up called the Productshipping.com (Tigerdirect) number and asked for a supervisor and the CSR said he would forward it to the laison for the AMD program to get my game shipped. Apparently if your missing the game it's a very big deal becuase no one seems to know who's responsible for it but if I don't have the game next week(as promised) I guess my credit card company is going to find out for me.

I dont know much about the brand (though I assume they are AMD approved)...or is this extra offer of a 600watt powersupply AND case something from TigerDirect? (btw it's $79 AFTER $30 mail-in-rebate)

I am still on the fence with this entire system. Not sure if I want it or hold out for something 'better'

I got mine yesterday but didn't realize I need a new power supply b/c mine doesn't have the extra 12V connector. I didn't even think of that! So I picked up a new Antec 430W today at work. When I first booted the system I wasn't getting any video. The cpu fan was spinning, case fan spinning, hard drive whirling away but no video. I plugged in my speakers to listen to the audio post report and it said "System failure due to cpu overclocking." Wierd, I haven't even tried to overclock yet. I tried clearing the CMOS and a few other things. Finally I played around with the memory configuration and the video came up. At least it's not DOA like I originally thought.

How do you determine which cpu core it is? just by checking the bios? I am waiting for my case as this in now my 4th pc, and haven't had the opportunity to crank this thing on yet....

No, the system i sold to get me over 300pts. I missed 1 on the last quiz and had to sell a Athlon 64 desktop to get myself over 300. I sold the last one in the store on sunday

Wow, that same thing happened to me. Except I never got any video. So I RMA'd it today. =(

I can't remember exactly what all the page said when I followed the purchase link, but I don't believe it will let non-members order... Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, it was just too long ago for me to remember those specific details.

1. You have to have a retail access account to order.
2. You have to have 300 points to order.
