Maybe it is because at least 3 people I know got double shipped (two for one). I'm not giving away any state secrets, that fact has already been posted in this thread.

I am not buying this combo b/c I do not qualify working for Office Max. But I know a few OM associates some how got in on them. As far as the double shipments, Intel is aware of it. They will retrieved them and if you open both packages, they will charge you full price for the second package.

Double shipping is nothing new, they did it way back in the day when they offered P2-400MHZ deals.....a co worker got 2 and they never did collect the second one...

Uh, I thought that was illegal. A company can't just ship you something you didn't order, then charge you for it.

For that kind of delay, they darned well better "upgrade" the orders of we who had to wait! :|

... and wait.... and wait.......... *zzzzzzz*

Hey, Intel! I'm really enjoying my nForce2/AMD Athlon XP combo! It was cheaper too!

I'm not so sure I can "evangalize" Intel after this crappy treatment.

Heres the latest lowdown..

Thank you for contacting Shop Intel(TM) Customer Support.

We expect the next stock shipment in around December 12th. We will
start shipping orders in the order they were received shortly thereafter
until stock runs out. The next stock shipment is not due until the first
or second week of January at which time remaining orders will be
processed. You will receive an email notification when your order ships, that
will include the UPS tracking number. From your order date it is likely
your order will not ship until January.

I hope this information is helpful, but if you would like further
assistance, please contact Customer Service toll-free at 1-877-649-5817. We
are open from 7 AM to 8 PM Monday through Friday, Pacific Time.

Thank you,

Jim L.

Well, for the third or fourth time, I see this message when I check my order. "We have received your order for the items listed below. We will be processing these items for shipment at the earliest possible date."

I can only assume that they post this on everyone's account when a new shipment arrives. Hopefully my order will be one of the one's shipped this time.

Concerning XP, NFR software has "Not for resale" stamped right on it. The disk from this program does not have that, neither does it say OEM. What is it then, retail (though not in retail packaging)?

Why does it matter? If you put it in your cd-rom and it installs windows xp pro, why does it matter what it "officially" is as long as it is a valid not for resale copy of XP pro.

Dear XXXXX,

-PLEASE SAVE OR PRINT THIS MESSAGE-

Thank you very much for participating in the Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
Advocacy Promotion. We appreciate your patience in waiting for your purchase
program kit. Your order should be shipping out within the next two weeks. We
apologize for this delay in shipping your kit. Items may ship sooner, so if
after reading the following information you wish to update your order in any
way, we recommend that you call Customer Service no later than 8 PM Pacific Time
Tuesday, December 16th.

Your satisfaction is our top priority, so we have sent this message to provide
you with important information regarding your order and information on building
your system and getting technical support.

PRODUCT SUBSTITUTION
====================
In order to ensure that you receive a CPU and motherboard kit as soon as
possible, we will be substituting the higher end Intel® Desktop Board D865GRHLK
instead of Intel® Desktop Board D865GBFL.

Please note that Intel Desktop Board D865GRHLK includes a security feature
called Trusted Platform Module. This feature is disabled by default and should
only be enabled by advanced users.

Please contact Shop Intel Customer Service if you do not wish to receive this
substituted board. Note that because of product constraint, declining this
substitution will likely result in further delaying the shipment of your order.

But Chucko, that's the point: I was asking what we had. The point is to know. It's not an NFR, since NFR's say so. I have to assume it's an OEM, which is a different thing.

Justtaint: Since when is the Retail Edge promotion called "Hyper-Threading Technology Advocacy Promotion"? Are you talking about the same program? Anyway, they're apparently substituting the board from the ICC promotion, which is the same thing except it's a Mini-ATX and has Gigabit Ethernet (oh, and that security thingie they mentioned).

Hey Justtaint and Civic, what were your order dates? And does anyone know if a Mini-Atx board will fit in any ATX case? I have an Aspire X-Superalien.

I got the same email message about the motherboard substitution. As long as I get my order I'm happy with it.

I'm not! 3 less PCI slots & Intel is trying to play this off like this is an upgrade, yeah right:disgust:

Guess I'll use the board from last year's promotion since there's not much of a difference & keep my PCI slots.

I'm curious, since I have no PCI cards at all anymore, what are the 4 or more that you're apparently using?

Unbelievable. They basically give you a 3GHz/mobo/XP Pro for $200. and you're mad about some delay?!
You deserve to work in retail, and may your customers be impatient, rude, and elitist.
Newsflash: Intel doesn't owe you anything, those of us who don't work in retail would pay over $500 for that stuff.
