I got this msg, at bottom, anyone able to reverify where they work and how long does it take for Intel to contact you after you sent a response for identification?

Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in our attempts to verify your employment. Until your employment is verified, you cannot participate in the Intel Purchase Program.

If you feel there was an error in the verification process, please contact us at

retailedge@intel.com.

Your friend in great deals,

The Intel(R) Retail Edge team

Whoa... weird.

I got an email today confirming that i work at Best Buy and that im eligible for the program, code and all. They say they verified my employment - yet i dont work, and have never worked, at a Best Buy...

In fact, when i saw that they were verifying employment a few months ago, i thought i cancelled my account there. Then, all of a sudden, i get an email from them saying "congratulations!" Weird...

Others at my work have already gotten their package, and other have recieved messages saying that intel is out of stock. And if the program is offered again they will be first in line... Crock of crap if u ask me. I got the last deal just fine...

Take it for what it?s worth...

I just called a friend at Intel, and he said that they were out of motherboards, but are expecting them to arrive at the where house around the second week of November, and ship shortly afterwards.

Re their not responding to emails, try using the appropriate form on the Retail Edge site instead. When I sent them a message that way recently, the reply was very fast. Now, it just may be that sending an email is exactly the same thing as doing that (on their end), but I don't think we know that for sure.

Intel sucks. My wife has worked at Walmart for 5 years yet Intel can't verify her employment -- and store management swears that Intel NEVER contacted them asking about her. So go figure.

Intel suckers thousands of people into spending time on their little education testing program, plays games with 'count down/coming in October' timing, drag their feet in responding to applicants, then lie about verifying (not) employment, then don't answer emails. First come, first served = BS. And how can a major corpoaration launch a legitimate program with 'limited quantities' and then be 'out of stock'?

Of course, the longer Intel drags out this program the more advertising time they get out of the cost (if any). As it now stands I suspect that Intel is getting millions of dollars of advertising in exchange for passing out a virtual handful of product.

Considering how we've been treated by Intel my wife will probably no longer have anything positive to say to customers about Intel. And for sure our next new system will be AMD just to help fight this rotten stinking company.

Wow, someones a little bitter. I did get the code this year, but wouldn't start hating a company that doesn't give me free/cheap sh*t. AMD doesn't even offer a program, so how are they better than Intel in this case. Oh well, I guess Intel lost a customer in you, sorry to hear you haven't had a good experience.

I couldn't agree less. Intel has some of the best retail sales programs out there and they have been doing similar bundles for at least four years now and it's always been first come first serve. I would say only MS has a better retail channel program.

The deal isn't over so it doesn't necessarily mean you lost out, it just means you need to be more patient.

Don't get me started on Walmart. Email them and see if you can get the problem corrected. Thanks for the promotion Intel.

emjem,

You need to calm down. First of all put yourself in intels position. They got thousands of requests, and a lot of fraud so they have to verify everyone by hand. Also the other people are right, look at Amd when have they sold a bundle that wasnt something that only 1 person could get, never. This is a deal and yes i got my code and Im happy. But if i didnt get my code I wouldnt act like a four year old and whine about it. I mean if you go to retailedges site now they are all hyped about the extreme edition. Maybe they will offer a bundle with the extreme edition soon? Also wallmart in my opinon is not really a computer shop becuase all you do is go in there and pick up a HP in a box. I dont mean to be harsh, but its not like best buy or circuit city ya know?

Just watch it man, becuase you never know when it will bite you in the foot.

Man you should just chill a bit. I didn't get nothing out of this program even tho I spent time completing all the activities. You don't see me bish and whine in here tho, besides Wallmart and Intel is kinda like an oxymoron anyways.

I would just like to say that even though I work for 2 retail stores I am able to get in (not on the list)

but I respect Intel for having this promotion.. they don't have to do things like this... they have a vast amount of market share over AMD...

Are you saying that you got in eventhough your stores are not on Intel's list? Man how lucky.

I remember back when I used to work at Best Buy, Intel had an offer for a P2 400 w/ an Intel BX board for $200 and AMD had a similar deal, I believe it was a K6-2 350 w/ some kind of super socket 7 board for $99.

I wonder what ever happened to the AMD deals.

I'm sure your wife really has a big influence on people buying computers at walmart. They only sell like two or three different computers. Some of you people need to realize that Intel dosen't owe you anything. They put this program together to help reward those people who sell their products everyday. Where the hell is AMD at? I don't see them offering any deals like this.

I am not bitter or disappointed. More like disgusted. My wife spent time watching the Intel ads and taking the quizzes, only to be dismissed with email that basically says, "We, Intel, FAILED to verify your employment with Walmart, so f--- off".

Millions of employment verification processes go on every day across this country, yet Intel can't verify whether someone works for a major retailer? Or at least extend the courtesy of giving a brief explanation as to why not.

Bah, some of us need to support AMD to keep Intel from returning to the days of $1500 processors. I might as well be one of them, again.

I'm not going to debate the quality of sales help at Walmart, Best Buy, etc. It should suffice to say that Walmart is one of the approved, by Intel, participating retailers. As I saw it the Intel program may have been initially created to give some needed sales training to retail employees. A good basic idea that has somehow gone awry. You know, like RDRAM.

As I said above, Intel lists Walmart as a qualifying retailer. So maybe they know something you don't. On the other hand, considering how they behave, maybe they don't know as much as my cat, who at least has a modicum of manners.

We don't figure Intel owes us a dasm thing except a bit of timely, honest, straight forward and courteous treatment once we invest our time in learning their sales patter. Besides, they're selling about $75 worth of material for $200, so they aren't 'giving' anybody a darn thing.

And don't forget, if it weren't for AMD this Intel 'reward' program would have a price tag of, hmmmmm, $1500. That's 'where the hell AMD is at".

Ok dude If i knew where you live i would slap you.

You seriously need to shut your mouth, or get a perscription for some ritalin or something. I say again sure intel doesnt really care about what store sent a request for a system. You just dont understand how many requests went through i guess, intel is doing its best to get the requests out. I dont know why they didnt give you a code. Maybe you should send a email to intel asking why and stop bit***** to us. I mean we dont really care. We love paying our well earned $200 for something that is still mind you worth at least 450 with windows. I just really think you need to put a sock in it. This was a privilige and not a given right.

Got my package last night finally.

Hang in there guys, if it takes an extra week or two to get your code/package, they might actually give you a code for your windows XP copy, like mine.
