For Server 2003 IIS which is better? P4 3 ghz or P4 2.8 ghz HT

Going to be using a workstation as a server ..another as a client and cant decide which is better... which one would be the better cpu for running an asp.net web application on server 2003 with IIS 6?

Pentium 4 3.0 ghz or Pentium 4 2.8 ghz with Hyper Threading?

i'd be more concerned about memory than processor speed. i have a p3 1.3ghz server with 2GB of PC133 running IIS that runs just fine.

Yea.. memory is not an issue.. just want to choose which is the better processor at the moment.

IIRC, all P4 3.0 are HT. After a while, they stopped hyping HT as much.

P4 3.06 was the first HT processor, but was on a 533FSB. I think P4 2.8 / 800FSB is about the same performance as the P4 3.06 / 533FSB in the end.

I think the P4 2.8 / 533FSB was the highest speed P4 that didn't have HT. All Northwood-C and above are HT, and the 3.06 was the only Northwood-B with HT.

The one with more cache. If they are the same bus speed, and all else being equal, then why not go HT? 200MHz isn't going to make a difference anyhow.
So, I vote for HT over none. Wherever it is used, it should have the advantage.
