For The First Time Gaming Laptops Are Cheaper Than Desktops

Desktop hardware are getting really expensive because of taxes from china or whatever.

Laptops currently does not have this problem.

Not sure if the prices went up or how hard to get.. ..

I bought this for my son.
ASUS - TUF DASH 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Intel 11th Gen i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - 512GB SSD for around $1150 around March from Best Buy..

I gave up trying to get any Nvidia rtx video cards for desktop..

Laptop hardware is fairly power/thermal design limited and as a result most laptop hardware falls far short of its desktop counterparts in terms of performance (which includes hashrate etc).

Coupled with basically being an all in one system with a higher ASP than stand-alone hardware to begin with, there is far less room for scalping and other shens (just like the 3090 started at $1400 and has not inflated in price nearly as much as more mainstream cards like the 3070 or 3060Ti) a $1400 laptop is already catering to a relatively rarefied audience and just doesn't have much ceiling for inflation while also falling FAR FAR short of a 3090 in raw performance.

Lastly, NV and other manufacturers have IDed laptops as a major growth segment with a relatively high rate of return under normal circumstances, and are likely piping much more supply to this channel than the standard DIY channels.
