And have an extremely crappy car to boot!

The boxster idea isn't bad, but it's no Ferrari.

Damn I'm old. I'm thinking G35 sedan or Subaru Legacy GT. I'd love an S2000 but I imagine there will be rugrats along soon so...

If I had that kind of money to blow on a car... I would get an S2000.

2004 Honda S2000 6-spd MT
The S2000 6-spd MT is a 2-Door, rwd SCCV with seating for 2. It comes standard with a 6 speed manual transmission and a 2.2L I4, 16-Valve, DOHC, MPFI engine with a horsepower rating of 240@7800 and a torque rating of 161@6500. It has an EPA fuel economy rating of 20 city/25 highway miles per gallon.

$32,800

I followed the rules! And as far as I'm concerned, I'm the winnar of the thread thus far. Though the Porsche is a good alternative. I mean, come on, Porsche & Ferrari or... Honda?

Although it's not a convertible, Dodge Magnum. If it HAD to be a convertible, I'd go for a nice 450HP Lingenfelter Firebird. You can go essentric and get a '91 Dodge Dakota convertible, but those are rather rare.

i wouldnt go for that ferrari.....ive driven one and man its the most uncomfortable car i ever drove....im 6ft 2 and well i had my head on my shoulder nearly!!!.....then theres the driving position....your feet point towards the centre axis of the car...but the steering is straight ahead, the clutch is super heavy and so its the steering..but least its direct.....the breaks are unbelievable....i thought i was gonna crash when i put my foot on them......there is no feel watsoever.....i was about to use both feet on the brakes!!!!

the gear stick is the final problem......its manual which for us in england is jus fine....for u in america if thats where u are.....most of your cars are Auto boxes........the gearbox in this car is wierd...reverse is where 1st would normally be....so i had to be careful not to engage reverse on the move!!!!!!!!

the honda s2000 is a great car......i think its got great looks, with that long bonnet, it has a feline agile look to it, the engine is simply superb.....9000rpm+ for chrissakes!!!

having said that i would opt for a convertable BMW....all their cars are FR and the Z4 is easliy the best looking.......but an M3 convertable is nice too.....not sure bout prices tho...i would guess the honda is cheaper.....but u get what u pay for

Definitely a boxster S, again.. having to sell that car was the saddest thing i ever had to do =\ (had a seal grey 2001).. If i wanted something maybe cheaper to maintain and with warranty id probably pickup an EVO (or compare it to a 350z or STI, probably go for the evo though).. e46 M3 is out of s2000 price range. 2001's i think had unreliable engines, so i'd want a 2002+.

i'd also consider an audi S4 for practicality. (2001/2).

nothing really beats the boxster though.. a porsche is a porsche is a porsche.. the handling (my god the handling ), the sound of the engine.. the class.

One thing to note about Ferraris: they are VERY high maintance. Just the cost of keeping it on the road is like another car payment.

Edro: torque does make a difference off the line. Just imagine what a 350 Chevy SB in a Porche 914 (can you say 300HP/350LB-ft in 2000LBs?) would be like. I've seen it.

The S2000 weighs that much?! That's terrible for such a small car.

I know it matters, but when a car weighes a little over a ton, you can get away with less torque.

Yes we do. They're very large pigs. Only the Porche Cayenne Turbo is quick at all. The V6 Toureg is a bonehead option.

For a car that small, 2900LBs isn't that light. 900LBs isn't a "little over". Though it's not as bad as the 3400LB VW R34. They must've made that car out of lead.

Heh, it's a joke.. just trying to tell you that most of *our* (the majority of American ATOT posters) cars aren't auto.
