I agree. The Ferrari from the 80s is a better looking car. And it's from the 80s. Also consider that it was designed and built in the 1980s. It's 20 years old.

Let me see if I understood your insight correctly. The car is from the 80's. And it was designed in the 80's. And it's 20 years old?

Is it from the 80's? Is it two decades old?

Duran Duran had a bunch of these.

Didn't Magnum PI have one of these in hard top mode?

No, his was different.

If you notice, Jeremy's favorite cars aren't European or Japanese.... They're English. The Aston Martin, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Land Rover, even the new Rover.

My reference to Lexus is to show you that they do not necessarily discriminate cars just because they're American or not. They hit out on cars that are primarily marketed for the American market and are designed as such since obviously Lexus was created to separate itself from Toyota in the public's eye. Like I said I won't change your mind so this post is rather useless other than to explain what I said in my previous post. If you think Top Gear is following the worldwide trend of being anti-american well... what can i say... i think that's rather silly for a trivial automobile program to involve itself in the ugliness that is politics.

No, not getting offended. And while I also think it's silly for the show to involve itself in politics, they've nonetheless done so by constantly poking fun of every aspect of American life. But they can't really help it, it was too fashionable to pass up

I seriously cannot believe someone is trying to say a V6 Accord is better than a Boxster.....

Re: the OP, which nobody has done lately - get a Miata. The used Porsche will cost you much more in the long haul due to maintenance.

I'd venture a guess and say anyone who has anything bad to say about the S2000 has never driven one through winding mountain roads.

You've already stated your willing to spend that amount, the car fits all the criteria you've layed out, do yourself a huge favor and go get the S2000. You'll smile later.

i've driven an s2000 and I own a 99' boxster......would take the boxster any day...you can pick up a low low miles 2000 or 2001 boxster s which would spank the s2000 in every aspect......car and driver has been shown to have reviews directly corresponding with how much money the manufacturer paid them...do some research on it....the reason old people buy porsche's is they are usually the only ones that can afford them...

And I would take the BMW Z4 before the S2000 or Boxster S. Interior is of better quality and fits me better. The engine feels more powerful than it really is on the Zed also.

Not only is it a RARE car and the first one off the lot...but it's got 345HP and 345 ft/lbs TQ (more than that Honduh can dream of). It has t-tops, which is not a convertible, but to be honest, it's even better than a convertible...since the top is hard, and there's no wind blowing from the back.

Then again, I might be a bit biased since I own a Firebird...

Plus the build quality of the GMs absolutely decimates the Ho.... hahahahahaha.

good you take your z4...just remember it's manufactured in china so I'm sure that high quality you speak of will last....and we're referring to the boxster s being more fun to drive then the s2000 as that would be in the price range...you can pick up a good boxster for about 22k a good s for 30-33k......the boxster s beats the s2000 on paper and every other respect....

A chick magnet? where S. Alabama? Down here in Florida you are bound to attract marlboro smoking chicks at a country bar and teenagers also smoking marlboros, they'd sooner joke about a 'mullet' on the driver than want to go for a ride....mustangs have more respect in that aspect as many chicks consider them as cars for themselves.

Firehawk or not, it's going to be just a Firebird to a girl.

Opinion or not (money influenced or not also) most mags will rate / have rated the boxster (especially the S) over the s2000. Many have already stated longevity concerns about the extremely high (and untested) red line on that S2000....even honda is concerned, but stating they will honor any warranty claims within the warranty period based on high rpm (not overrev) problems.

Of course the Boxster is out of the S2000's demographic. A high rpm car is not so date friendly and that would be one of my concerns buying a 2 seater convertible.

The z4s are manufactured in America AFAIK.

Wow, it seems that everything you know about Camaros/Firebirds is based on a few mullet jokes you hear on the Internet....in the real world very few associate them with mullets, I'd say the only people who associate them with mullets are Mustang drivers who can't accept the fact that the Camaro/Firebird is just a better car (Cobra being the exception...damn that car is nice), so they resort to mullet jokes.

I get a lot of compliments on my car (which is nothing special or noteworthy nor am I claiming it is, but it is a Firebird) from non-rednecks, trust me...

"mustangs have more respect in that aspect as many chicks consider them as cars for themselves" - This is just completely false, if a chick saw a guy driving a VW New Beetle, would that be a chick magnet because the girl is considering one for herself? I highly doubt it... now again I'm not calling Mustangs bad cars, and they are certainly huge chick magnets, but you're just completely misled on this one IMO.

And on a final note, if the only thing you rely on to pick up chicks is what type of car you drive, maybe you need to work on your other aspects a bit if YOU are a chick magnet, no girl is going to give a flying rat's ass how high your car revs...

hmmm not just the internet, try TV and movies too....but then how about you try local radio here, local jokes and what woman make comments about at a club or bar....corvettes are worse...I'd say between corvette and riced out civic, you will have a better chance in the civic of not getting laughed at by chicks.

Also I don't know where you get Camaro/Firebirds are better cars....perhaps in a straight line, but almost all slalom (not just magazine tests) the mustang with it's lower overhang tends to allow the driver to miss more cones. You can defend that holy grail of a car as you call it....it just gets a meh out of me....

well chances are anyone in a social circle doesn't think poorly of their friends and admirers....it's the people on the outside looking in that are hysterical. A few chicks would think my old Saturn was something special too. Them being stupid about cars doesn't make my old sport coupe a Viper challenger.

hmmm no this is in witness...what cars at a car show, or race track get the attention of women...it's not the camaro/firebird or any corvette after 1975. All the mustangs girls like....many many girls drive late model mustangs around here (not really so many in V8's and Cobras though).....but yeah in a Beetle Cabriolet you will attract chicks despite what mullet headed guys think.

And on a final note, if the only thing you rely on to pick up chicks is what type of car you drive, maybe you need to work on your other aspects a bit if YOU are a chick magnet, no girl is going to give a flying rat's ass how high your car revs...

No that's not what I said I do, but it was the train of thought going on here. Also if you would read I said high reving cars are the opposite of what you want on a date. Don't go off defending your macho man car and missing the details....open your eyes or brush the hair back out of your eyes.

I've honestly got no idea where you live, but around here (and I would assume most other places as well), a $50K Corvette would get a lot more positive attention than a $10K Civic with stupid-looking body mods and a spoiler. EVERYBODY drives a Civic, nothing special about them, obviously a Vette would get a lot more "respect"

Any LS1 F-Body is much faster than any Mustang except the Cobra (which is also way more expensive), despite the 305-310HP rating they tend to dyno more at about 330-340HP. IMHO Mustangs are boring to look at and boring to drive (ever sat in one? Not sporty feeling at all IMO), so many people own them, they are so commonplace. I'd never take one over an F-body...

I'm not claiming the F-body is a supercar, but it is defnitely better than the Mustang IMO (the new 2005 however looks very nice)

As for picking up chicks in a New Beetle as opposed to a Corvette... I think it's fairly obvious to anyone reading this thread that you're completely misled. New Beetles are ultimate chick cars, any guy driving one better have either won it in a contest or borrowing it from his mom, if not he needs a quick check on his sexuality.

BTW while I do have long hair I don't have a mullet, I'm not an inbreed or a redneck and I don't live in a trailer.

Yeah, that's exactly my point. If a girl is occupied with you, the first thing on her mind won't be "OK, this guy's car revs too high, forget him!"

To be honest I would never base buying a car on whether it's a chick magnet or not, there are so many other factors to worry about. I see hot girls going all the time with guys who drive pieces of crap. While it helps to have a hot-looking car, it's not a critical factor, so let's move off the subject...

BTW what did this guy ever decide on or what?
