3 weather gadgets. 1 for each house and 1 for family in Iceland. I like to see how much colder it is here than there, so I can tell them to stop complaining about the cold, when it is indeed much colder in Wisconsin than it is there.

The sidebar is always the first thing I get rid of. I've never really even kept it long enough to know whether it's useful or not. Maybe I should check it out sometime.

It works best with a widescreen monitor. I don't know that I'd be as enamored as I am if I had a 4:5 display. With WS the space is kind of wasted, so you might as well put something interesting there.

Agreed. I just keep the calendar, clock, and weather there. But, I had never thought about adding other gadgets. So, I'm currently looking online to see if there are some nifty gadgets that I don't know how I lived without.

You have a good system and wouldn't even feel it on. I sure don't. Vista kills it all anyways if you're playing a game.

yeah, I'm sure you have much more important stuff to be doing with your computer. Stop neffing and get back to finding a cure for cancer.

I use gadgets but I have the sidebar turned off. Can't stand having a permanent fixture, though I could see how some people would enjoy having the sidebar set to always on top and always using that portion of the screen on a widescreen.

But ever since getting my widescreen monitor, I rarely maximize windows, and have a lot of gadgets just floating in different spaces. Also using some desktop apps for additional quick access features. One of my favorite recent additions is a Pidgin gadget, called Pidglet, that shows all my logged in buddies, status, and lets me open conversations. Keep the real buddy list closed in the system tray, that way this is always fixed to my desktop. So Pidglet, notes, and have weather and a stocks gadget. I got some readers and system info using Rainmeter with a certain theme.

Third from the bottom is the All CPU Meter. If you have Speedfan installed it gives 3 temps. Where it says CPU on mine, I have it reading the GPU. I haven't gotten around to changing the text. The one's on the cores measure the core temp.

Second from the bottom is a network meter. It just shows traffic coming and going, and a coarse speed.
I can't find a link to the gadget. There's others, but if you want this one, I can post it up somewhere.

Bottom is a drive utilization gadget. It's sometimes interesting to see what's going on with your drives.

Weather, news. The weather thing is actually kind of pointless since I can't see what it's going to be like later in the day - just right now.

You should try weatherman. It gives you the current weather, the high for the day, and the outlook for the night. If you mouse over it, you can go to the radar for your area, or get the 5 day outlook. If there is a weather advisory/warning for the area, it lets you know. It also has the time on it, so I got rid of the clock app. It's my favorite sidebar app by far.

All CPU Meter, and lottery results are my other apps.
