If you are against universal healthcare you have two choices:

1. Live in an underdeveloped nation

2. Live in the USA

My Grandma had a stroke over the weekend and the care was great. The Ambulance was at our house within 5 mins, the Paramedics quickly assesed the situation and had her on her way to the hospital. There a group of care providers were ready, multiple scans were done and some ballooning procedure ( I think). The surgeon scheduled an operation to be preformed the very next morning.

The care is good for critical procedures but if you need elective surgery be prepared to wait a good 3 months.

What do you think about making part of insurance premium payments tax credits rather than deductions?

I think its a horrible idea.

It doesn't help the poor, as they probably don't pay enough in tax to cover the medical insurance.

It helps the middle class, but gives them little incentive to shop for rates cheaper than their taxes paid.

All you'll be doing is raising rates and transferring tax revenue to the insurance companies.

sounds great.
but, our for profit system also pays for most of the research that supports all of the not for profit systems in the world.

Do you want to do away with the hugely expensive process of medical research and approval of new treatments and drugs?

Are you one of the people that want to do away with patent law too?

That's my experience too. Waiting sucks but at least it eventually happens.
